Pokemon TCG players fear new Tin could lead to scalping raid

The new Pokemon TCG Paldean Fates expansion has fans worried over a new shiny Charizard ex Tin and a possible scalper wave. The fan-favorite Pokemon is featured on one of the TCG’s latest Tins, and since the Van Gogh incident fans are on high alert.

The new expansion for the Pokemon TCG was revealed on November 16, 2023, and Paldean Fates carries some fan-favorite Pokemon in it. The new cards are set to launch on January 26, 2024, and fans are already worried about scalpers.

This collection features a new Tin with shiny Tera Charizard ex in it, and players are already expecting a possible scalping raid over it. The Pikachu Van Gogh incident earlier in 2023 left a lot of trainers with mixed feelings over how these new releases and special collaborations should be handled.

Pokemon TCG Paldean Fates Charizard ex Tin might alert scalpers

Pokemon TCG fans are worried that the new Paldean Fates Tin might be a target for scalpers, killing the hype around the new announcement. The possibility of it instantly selling out dampened the mood amongst players following the reveal.

The new Paldean Fates expansion of the Pokemon TCG features over 100 new shiny cards, including new Gen 9 Pokemon. While not all of the content features shiny Pokemon, some Pokemon featured are classic creatures in their Tera and Paradox forms.

The buzz started over on Serebii.net owner Joe Merrick’s social media post about the Tin with Charizard in it: “Good luck finding this tin,” he said. His post gained a lot of traction among the TCG community, and many fans agreed with him.

Some X users joked about the matter and took it with humor while expressing their worries about possible scalpers: “I really love TCG being so agonizingly hard to get in person 🙂 Scalpers are so awesome dude,” said one X user.

Others were a bit more optimistic and called out the possibility of having an “excess” on printed Tins like in the Pokemon TCG Shining Fates expansion. The X users said: “I feel like they will do the same here. Can’t imagine they lost any money on Shining Fates.”

With one of the most popular Pokemon out there being featured in a shiny Tera form Tin, it’s only a matter of time to see what will happen with the scalping situation.
