Niantic are teasing a new co-op feature for Pokemon Go, and players are excited to try the new mode when it comes out. Here’s everything we know about Pokemon Go Party Play so far.

Pokemon Go had a troublesome season earlier this year with price hikes and bugged features that led many players to abandon the experience altogether. However, Niantic assured players that they were working on brand-new features that would breathe new life into the seven-year-old mobile game.

After many rumors, it seems like Pokemon Go will introduce a co-op mode very soon. Niantic shared a teaser for the Pokemon Go Party Play feature, so let’s dive into everything we know about this upcoming mechanic.

What is Party Play in Pokemon Go?

Pokemon Go Party Play has been rumored for quite some time, and dataminers shared many details about the upcoming feature. Of course, none of the following information has been confirmed by Niantic yet, so we recommend you take it with a grain of salt for now.

According to dataminers, Party Play will allow trainers to create parties of up to four players in Pokemon Go. This will give them the chance to unlock special bonuses and earn unique rewards while playing together.

As you might have guessed, you’ll likely need to be near the party members to play together, meaning there are no plans for a Remote Party Play feature, at least for now.

While we don’t know what bonuses and rewards players will be able to get through this method, there will be a special focus on Raids and Routes. Trainers will be able to collect Party Power by using Fast Moves.

Additionally, being in a party will increase the damage of Charged Moves. On top of that, there will be different Party Challenges players will need to complete to earn rewards.

A group icon showed up on a players’ game in September, sparking speculation around a co-op mode coming soon to Pokemon Go. Many believe Party Play will borrow elements from other Niantic games, like Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now. While this will allow players to play together with friends, some trainers also voiced their concerns.

Pokemon Go Routes is still experiencing issues months after its launch.

The latest features added to the Pokemon Go experience didn’t have smooth launches and still have issues months after their debuts. What’s more, the co-op features seen in Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now lack essential settings, like nearby player invites or the ability to report inappropriate players.

Niantic haven’t yet revealed when the Party Play feature will debut in Pokemon Go, but we can expect it to roll out sometime during the Adventures Abound season. We’ll make sure to update this article once we know more about it.
