Where does Pokemon Legends ZA take place? Region & location confirmed

Pokemon Legends ZA is yet another highly anticipated title from the iconic franchise arriving on Nintendo Switch in 2025. After the major reveal, many players are wondering where Pokemon Legends ZA takes place.

Pokemon Legends ZA‘s reveal on Pokemon Day 2024 immediately sent fans into a frenzy, as the sequel to the well-liked Legends Arceus will bring a new adventure to the fold. The initial announcement trailer teased the return of Mega Evolutions, but little else is known about Legends ZA.

With a release window of 2025, Pokemon fans are already chomping at the bit for more information about Legends ZA. Thanks to the brief trailer and some words from The Pokemon Company, we can also decipher where Pokemon Legends ZA is taking place.

Pokemon Legends ZA setting explained

Pokemon Legends ZA will take place in Kalos’ Lumiose City. For those who may not be familiar with Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, Lumiose City is the central city of the Kalos region.

The official Pokemon Legends ZA webpage offers some details about the setting: “A new adventure awaits within Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokemon.”

It remains to be seen which version of Lumiose City players will be visiting. Theories involving whether players will visit a past, present, or future version of Lumiose City are beginning to pick up steam.

An X post by Nintendo of America also confirms that the new adventure will take place “entirely within Lumiose City.” Keep in mind that Pokemon Legends ZA is slated for a 2025 launch, and the devs can make changes prior to its release.

However, at the moment, it seems all signs point toward an experience restricted to Lumiose City.
