PSA: Call of Duty’s Exclusive Deal with MS Ends This Year

Published

on

Lots of PS3 and PC fans have been pretty upset this past week when it was finally confirmed that MW3’s season of content will ONLY kick off on the Xbox 360 this Jan. 24th. Specifically, PS3 players were up in arms when they assumed they would be getting content first also because of their yearly subscription and promise of early content. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. The only way this would have been possible is if Activision backed out of the deal which gave Microsoft exclusive rights to obtain Call of Duty DLC first.

In a way, we’re kind of surprised Activision decided to launch ELITE this year and not wait for Microsoft’s deal to expire seeing as how its pretty complicated to explain the scattered DLC release schedule. Even now, PS3 players are left wondering when they’ll be playing Liberation and Piazza. A lot of them expressed their anger via forums, Twitter, and even YouTube with Modern Warfare 3’s recent “Season of Content” trailer receiving 6,697 likes, and a staggering 10,281 dislikes.

The main purpose of this article is to remind the fans that the 3 year deal which began in 2009 is set to expire at the end of the year, December 31st to be exact.. However, PS3 and PC players aren’t out of the woods yet, there’s still a chance Microsoft could announce another deal with Activision during this year’s E3 press conference in June. As always, we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything.

Apex Legends: how to activate the Season 9 Arena teaser

Apex Legends data miners have found out how players can activate a new Season 9 teaser. Here’s how to see it for yourself.

Apex Legends Season 9 Teaser Arena

The Apex Legends Season 9 teaser is now live, revealing the mystery behind the mysterious platform in the Firing Range.

After the halfway split for Season 8, players noticed a stranged platform implemented on the left side of the Firing Range map.

For weeks players were unaware of its purpose, but finally, the mystery has been uncovered and is associated with the new upcoming Arena mode.

Season 9 Teaser Arena

Data miner @GarretLeaks was among the few who leaked how players can activate the button found on the Firing Range platform.

GarretLeaks has even created a step by step guide of how players can experience the Season 9 Arena teaser, which will be available April 20th:

  • Step 1: Collect keycard from care packages (available now)
  • Step 2: Find Holosprays scattered around Kings Canyon
  • Step 3: Find Holosprays scattered around Olympus
  • Step 4: Press the phone in the lobby and listen to the audio
  • Step 5: Press the button on the Firing Range platform and wait for the ship (available on April 20th)

The Corrupted Keycards are now live and available to pick up from Care Packages in-game for both Kings Canyon and Olympus. On the 20th, players will then be able to scan the Holosprays and activate the teaser.

Dataminer @Shrugtal released images of where players will be able to find these Holosprays, which are located in various locations across the two maps.

You can scan multiple Holosprays in one match and even scan all three over multiple matches. It seems the Holosprays will spawn in all the locations highlighted in Shrugtal’s image.

Along with this, fellow data miner @Biast12 has also released a video showing what happens after activating the button in the Firing Range.

The video shows Biast boarding a ship after activating the button. Biast arrives at a new location where another button awaits, which activates an elevator. This then takes you into a small arena where a massive hollo of future Legend Ash is shown along with a voice line that states, “The Arena awaits.”

This is clearly a teaser for the upcoming 3v3 mode ‘Arena,’ which will be arriving in Season 9. However, this is also a teaser for the future legend, Ash. Although Ash will likely be arriving at a later Season – more like Season 10 – it does confirm that she will be arriving sooner than later.

In fact, it’s not the first time an announcer for a game mode has eventually become a playable Legend. Back in Season 3, the Shadow Fall game mode saw Revenant as the announcer, who later became a playable Legend in Season 4.

If this stays true to the format, Ash could be the new Legend for Season 10, after being an announcer for the previous season much like the introduction of Revenant. Players will be able to activate this teaser towards the end of Season 8.

How to get Fortnite’s new double-movement

You can try out double-movement in Fortnite with a mouse and keyboard, thanks to some third-party software that hasn’t been banned.

Double movement in Fortnite

Epic Games have gotten rid of the double-movement keybinds for Fortnite, but you can still make use of a third-party software to achieve the same function in the game.

One major advantage to playing Fortnite with a controller is that the joystick makes it much easier for you to strafe in one direction while looking elsewhere. Playing with a keyboard and mouse restricts your movement to four directions; front, back, left, or right.

This limitation can be frustrating, as it keeps you from being able to full-sprint while minding your surroundings. A few players used “double movement” keybinds to get around this until Epic Games removed them.

Fortnite Season 6

As the name implies, these would allow you to bind one of your movement inputs to two keys, so that you could achieve “controller movement.” Epic Games then banned this practice in-game by limiting movement input mapping to a single key.

However, Fortnite streamer BenjyFishy revealed to his followers that he used ReWASD and Keys2xInput to get around this issue, as Epic can’t ban them. He made sure to check with devs before adding it to his gameplay.

This implies that he got permission to use it, and you can also take advantage of it to get double movement when playing with a mouse and keyboard.

You can get a free trial of ReWASD, but will then have to pay for it each month after the trial ends. However, Keys2xInput is completely free, and will likely be the first choice for anyone who wants to try double-movement for the first time.

YouTuber itsJerian made an insightful video tutorial on how to set up these two programs, so you can check that one out for details about getting them to work.

While using third-party software for double-movement can seem tricky, it’s not as messy as it sounds. These programs simply emulate an ability that controller players already have, so that you can use it on your mouse and keyboard.

So far, Epic Games haven’t chimed in on this matter, and we don’t know for sure whether or not they plan to take action against this, but things look fine at the moment.

Players like BenjyFishy have contacts at Epic, so it’s likely that they were given the green light to use these programs, and you can try them out too.

Apex Legends devs announce commitment to fixing major server issues

The issue of server and net code problems has consistently caused problems for Apex Legends. However, a new dev blog is on the way.

apex legends net code server issues

Apex Legends has had ongoing problems with server and net code issues. However, it does seem that they are trying their best to communicate with the community and plan improvements.

Over the last two years, Apex Legends players have experienced severe server and net code issues that many have complained about since release.

Of course, these issues are extremely complicated and won’t be fixed overnight. However, more communication between the developers and the community could bring light and positivity to the manner, allowing a better understanding of the ongoing issues.

Apex Legends server locations

Apex Legends director of communications, Ryan K. Rigney (@RKRigney on Twitter), revealed that he had been working with the Apex engineers to create a new developer blog concerning, “servers, net code, and tickrate.”

We have seen similar dev blog posts in the past concerning patch notes, future updates, and the most recent video with Jason McCord concerning Apex Legends hackers and cheaters.

This new dev blog is said to be coming out in two weeks and will attempt to acknowledge and explain the “biggest issues” concerning servers, net code, and tick rate, as well as “exploring recent/upcoming improvements.”

Ryan Rigney says he is expecting a mixed reaction, mainly because he knows players want overnight fixes for all Apex Legends server issues – which aren’t possible. The dev blog won’t promise “revolutionary changes immediately,” but it will allow better insight and communication with the community.

Pro Apex Legends player, NRG Rogue, responded to his tweets, essentially stating that it will not satisfy the community of the “14-24-year-old Apex Legends market.”

Just like Rogue, who says he is not “too techy” in understanding such issues, the majority of the community are likely to be similar. The information offered may be overlooked, or not fully understood.

Either way, more communication between the devs and engineers for Apex Legends can hardly be negative, so we look forward to seeing the information provided.
