PSA: Call of Duty’s Exclusive Deal with MS Ends This Year

Lots of PS3 and PC fans have been pretty upset this past week when it was finally confirmed that MW3’s season of content will ONLY kick off on the Xbox 360 this Jan. 24th. Specifically, PS3 players were up in arms when they assumed they would be getting content first also because of their yearly subscription and promise of early content. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. The only way this would have been possible is if Activision backed out of the deal which gave Microsoft exclusive rights to obtain Call of Duty DLC first.

In a way, we’re kind of surprised Activision decided to launch ELITE this year and not wait for Microsoft’s deal to expire seeing as how its pretty complicated to explain the scattered DLC release schedule. Even now, PS3 players are left wondering when they’ll be playing Liberation and Piazza. A lot of them expressed their anger via forums, Twitter, and even YouTube with Modern Warfare 3’s recent “Season of Content” trailer receiving 6,697 likes, and a staggering 10,281 dislikes.

The main purpose of this article is to remind the fans that the 3 year deal which began in 2009 is set to expire at the end of the year, December 31st to be exact.. However, PS3 and PC players aren’t out of the woods yet, there’s still a chance Microsoft could announce another deal with Activision during this year’s E3 press conference in June. As always, we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything.

Fortnite v15.00 Update: Season 5 patch notes

Fortnite Season 5 is finally here, with a new Bounty system, a revamped loot pool, and much more!

Fortnite Season 5's Battle Pass characters.

December 2 has finally arrived, and that means Fortnite fans have lots of new content to sink their teeth into thanks the arrival of Season 5. Here’s everything you need to know about the 15.00 update.

Season 4 came to its dramatic conclusion on December 1 when Galactus attacked the island, and attempted to eat the Zero Point that holds Fortnite’s reality in place. Thanks to some help from Marvel superheroes, the ‘Devourer of Worlds’ was sent packing, but not before he altered the Fortnite island massively.

The Zero Point energy ball is now exposed, and Jonesy has called in seven of the universe’s greatest hunters to protect it, and stop players from escaping the reality.

As always, the new season update for Fortnite brings new weapons and items, major updates to the loot pool, and much more. Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite Season 5.

One of the major additions to Fortnite Season 5 is the bounty system. With seven great hunters now roaming the island, including Star Wars’ Mandalorian, your job is to help them by taking on quests and bounties.

You can choose to team up by hiring them, or you can challenge them to a battle. The choice is yours, with rewards on offer for those who go toe-to-toe with these powerful warriors.

If you want to hire them, you’ll need Bars. These can be earned by completing quests or bounties, eliminating players, or finding them hidden across the island. You can spend your newly-acquired hardware on rare weapons, upgrades, intel, services, and more.

New Weapons

New weapons are a must for any new Fortnite season, and this one is no different. The Dragon Shotgun will help players “unleash their fiery rage” according to Epic, while Mandalorian’s Amban sniper rifle won’t just take down enemies at range, but can also be used as a melee weapon.

There are also seven new Floppers to catch, along with the Shadow Tracker, and more.

  • Dragon Shotgun
  • Shadow Tracker
  • New Floppers
    • Tiger Zero Fish
    • Leafy Zero Fish
    • Skull Zero Fish
    • Rift-To-Go Flopper
    • Sandstorm Rift Flopper
    • Zero Point Flopper
  • Bounty Board
  • Gold Bars & Safe
  • Boom’s Sniper Rifle (Mythic)
  • Amban Sniper Rifle (Mythic)
  • Mandalorian’s Jetpack (Mythic)

Loot Pool Changes

Along with new items, we’ve also seen some return from the game’s vault, with the Charge Shotgun and P90 reappearing, along with the Storm Scout Rifle and more.

  • Charge Shotgun
  • Double Barrel Shotgun
  • P90
  • SMG
  • Storm Scout Rifle
  • Tactical Shotgun
  • Balloons

Of course, bringing some items back means others have to leave to make room, with the Pump Shotgun controversially exiting the game once again. Just because an item is vaulted doesn’t mean we won’t ever see it again though, so don’t panic if one of your favorites is gone.

  • Revolver
  • Fire Trap
  • Scoped Assault Rifle
  • Epic/Legendary Pump Shotgun
  • Legendary Combat Shotgun
  • Scar
  • Epic/Legendary Tac SMG

Bug Fixes

It’s rare that Epic releases a patch without some fixes for glitches that have been affecting the game, and the v15.00 update is no different. The developers have fixed an issue where it was impossible to bind the same key to different actions for those who play with a keyboard, and have also removed the Bash Burner pickaxe from competitive playlists while they investigate a problem with it.

  • Huntress Outfit appearing as Ramirez or another Outfit.
  • Impossible to bind the same key to different actions with Keyboard.
  • Bash Burner Pickaxe temporarily disabled in competitive playlists.

How to rank up guns fast in Cold War Zombies

Want to get the most Weapon XP for your time in Black Ops Cold War Zombies? Here’s how.

Here’s how to maximize your weapon XP earn rate in Zombies.

It’s no secret that the Weapon XP rate in Black Ops Cold War is slow. Many weapons take long hours of repetitive grinding, and some players have voiced opinions that it’s too slow. While the process is grilling, there is still hope for the process to be quicker.

Recently, Treyarch adjusted weapon XP in both Zombies and Multiplayer. However, some of Dalek’s strategies are still effective.

In a video by MrDalekJD (shown below), he explains the fastest ways to level up your XP in Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies mode.

According to Dalek, there are a few ways to maximize your earn rate. Here’s how.

Strategy #1 – Don’t Play Solo

Dalek originally claimed solo XP was less than party XP. This turned out to be true. Shortly after this claim, Treyarch fixed this in the November 30th patch.

Strategy #2 – PlayStation Party Boost

Playstation has the “party boost” system, which grants a 25% weapon XP earn rate increase for PlayStation players. If you’re on that platform, be sure to take advantage of this benefit whenever you can to maximize your weapon XP earn rate.

Strategy #3 – Exfil Strategy

In his video, Dalek explains the fastest rounds to gain XP for weapons is between rounds 1-16. Once you hit round 16, you should attempt to Exfil and then reload the map and spawn in again with the weapon you’re trying to level up.

This is a repetitive strategy, but it’s effective. Exfilling will also give you Aetherium Crystals, so this tactic doubles as a crystal “farm” strategy for upgrades. Dalek also found that between rounds 1 and 5, you gain the most XP for weapons.

Strategy #4 – The “casual” way

Apparently, the party boost for PlayStation is bugged and gives it to PC/Xbox players if there are 2 or more PlayStation players in a lobby. Dalek recommends that you party-up with 2 other PlayStation players and then grind up to round 20, then Exfil instead of round 15, so things don’t feel repetitive.

The party boost bug may not still be around now, so it’s best to not stress much about the platforms your friends are on and just grind out levels.

Best Fireteam Loadout for Black Ops Cold War

Here’s the best loadout to pummel enemies in Black Ops Cold War’s Fireteam game mode.

Here’s the best loadout for the Black Ops Cold War Fireteam game mode.

Black Ops Cold War offers a new Blackout-esque game mode in the form of Fireteam. Drop-in with a squad 4 into a 40 player server and fight to detonate sets of dirty bombs scattered across 2 large maps.

The playstyle for Fireteam is a bit different from Multiplayer since the map is larger, and you can equip armor plates for additional health. For these reasons, you’ll want to be equipped for both long and short-range engagements. Our preferred loadout covers the best of both worlds.

The Loadout

Primary – XM4

The XM4 is a stable weapon with solid bullet travel time. It hits hard at all ranges and has great mobility for its class. Here’s the attachment list:

  • Optic – Microflex LED: Clear optic with minimal zoom and great visibility.
  • Barrel – 13.5 Reinforced Heavy: Longer effective damage range.
  • Underbarrel – Foregrip: More weapon control while firing at range.
  • Magazine – 40 Round: More ammo. Can’t go wrong here.
  • Stock – Tactical Stock – Increased movement speed while aiming.

Secondary – MP5 (Law Breaker Wildcard Required)

Lightweight with high damage and fire rate. Solid for close-quarters engagements against multiple enemies and even packs a punch at medium range. Here are the best attachments:

  • Barrel – 9.5″ Reinforced Heavy: Faster shot travel time, more damage.
  • Underbarrel – Foregrip: Increased control while firing.
  • Magazine – 40 Round Mag
  • Handle – Airborne Elastic Wrap: The best wrap in the game. Dropshot, increased ADS, 90% flinch resistance.
  • Stock – No Stock: Increased sprint out times.

Perks and equipment

  • Perk 1 – Flak Jacket/Tactical Mask (Your pick)
  • Perk 2 – Scavenger
  • Perk 3 – Ninja
  • Lethal – Semtex
  • Tactical – Stun Grenade
  • Field Upgrade – Trophy System

Tips for the field

Flex it up – Run and gun, long-range, it’s all your pick. Enter buildings with your MP5 or play long angles with your XM4. You’re the ultimate fighting machine.

Play tactical – In Fireteam, you’ll be surprised how much players prefer using Flak Jacket over Tactical Mask. Your stuns will be super effective. Don’t forget to use your trophy system when defending a dirty bomb.

Dominance by surprise – On large maps, Ninja is super effective. Sneak behind entire teams and mow them down before they can even figure out you were behind them the whole time.

Also… don’t forget to play the objective. Now get out there!
