Report: Call of Duty Movie is no longer a priority for Activision
According to the Stefano Sollima, who was set to be the director of the Call of Duty Movie, Activision no longer sees the movie as a priority for their business in the current moment.
Activision Blizzard announced in November 2015 that they were creating the Activision Blizzard Studios to build and create original films and TV shows around own IP projects.
The only project to see the light of day from the studios was Skylanders Netflix TV show, which has now ended after three seasons with no signs of it coming back.
In a podcast, Sollima said the movie is no longer a priority for Activision Blizzard. He says it’s currently in limbo right now and that it’s on hold.
He says the writer of the Joker movie, Scott Silver, wrote a script for the movie.
Well, the Call of Duty film has remained a bit like this … We wrote the script with Scott Silver, which is what Joker wrote, and let’s say that the idea of expanding the universe, the world of Call of Duty, is cinematographic it is no longer (at the moment) an industrial priority of the group, of Activision … So, trivially, it has stood still, something that happens quite frequently there in America. He remained in the limbo of the “now let’s see” …
The news comes from Italy site BadTaste in an interview with director Sollima.
