Report: Xbox One S All Digital Version, a disc-less Xbox One S, launching in May 2019

According to new report from WindowsCentral, Microsoft will be launching a brand new Xbox One S console model in May 2019.

The report states that an all digital only Xbox One S is coming in May, with pre-orders in April.

The All digital Xbox One S will not feature a disc tray, rather opting for players to only get games via the Xbox One store on the console.

From the report:

Microsoft is reportedly set to call the discless Maverick console the “Xbox One S All-Digital Edition,” with preorders aiming for mid-April 2019, and with general availability coming in early May 2019. It looks as though it could be near-global simultaneous launch for almost all existing Xbox markets.

This would be the first all digital only Xbox console ever — Microsoft has been attempting to transition slowly to a cloud based streaming and digital solution for Xbox platforms for years, but the company has never actually launched a digital only console.

There’s no indication on how much this console would cost, but it would be cheaper than the current Xbox One S as it lacks a disc tray.
