Resident Evil RE:VERSE has released in a closed beta state for select Resident Evil Ambassadors. Here’s the rundown of the new multiplayer game.
Announced during the Resident Evil panel alongside gameplay of the upcoming Resident Evil: Village, was a new multiplayer game set in the RE universe, titled RE:VERSE.
The game will be available as a purchase bonus for pre-orders of physical and digital buyers of Resident Evil Village. It comes completely free as a bonus and may be available separately at a later time, according to the official Capcom website.
RE:VERSE is a celebration of 25 years of Resident Evil. The game includes some of our favorite heroes and villains from the franchise. In this game, players participate in a free-for-all style deathmatch where they can fight as “survivors” or “bioweapons”.
The goal of the game is the same as any deathmatch game, where you need to eliminate as many enemies as possible in the given time limit. The games are quite fast as of the closed beta, and only last 5 minutes each.
During this time period, Survivors are to eliminate as many bioweapons and other survivors as possible, while collecting virus capsules to upgrade the bioweapon they become when killed. For example, if you collect just one capsule before death, you may become Jack Baker from Resident Evil 7. If you get two, you can become Nemesis from Resident Evil 3.
For the beta, we had a total of five different bioweapons. If you did not have any capsules on death, you’d automatically become a fat molded from Resident Evil 7.
If you did have capsules, you’d randomly get a bioweapon for the number of capsules you had. For one, you could become the Hunter or Jack Baker, and for two you’d become either Nemesis or the Super Tyrant.
Each Bioweapon has its own set of abilities themed around the character. Nemesis has his signature rocket launcher, and Jack Baker comes equipped with chainsaws.
The heroes are your standard characters of RE:VERSE and current include some franchise favorites like Ada Wong, Hunk, and Claire Redfield. Each character comes equipped with a pistol with unlimited ammo, and a more powerful secondary with limited ammo.
You can find ammo around the battlefield for these weapons, as well as an assortment of green herbs to heal when low on health.
The abilities are the real stars of the show, with heroes like Claire Redfield capable of throwing electrical traps to stun enemies, and even heal herself on demand. Another hero, Hunk, can make himself invisible and assassinate enemies in just one shot.
Each character has enough variety to feel unique, and the balance was quite decent for a beta.
Capcom has not commented much on the future of RE:VERSE, but we can speculate that the game will have much more to offer at launch.
Since this title seems to mostly be focused on rewarding long-term Resident Evil fans with an entertaining multiplayer title alongside Resident Evil Village, we’re uncertain if Capcom plans to add a DLC.
We’ll update you if we hear any additional information.
DICE confirms Battlefield 6 next-gen consoles only, teaser coming soon
DICE have revealed new details about Battlefield 2021, confirming it will only be on the new consoles, a reveal is coming “soon,” and more.
Electronic Arts and Dice have revealed some new details about Battlefield 2021, including confirmation of which consoles the shooter will arrive on, and that a reveal will be coming “soon.”
As we near the reveal for Battlefield 6, fans are desperate for any information on the latest Battlefield title. While leaks and rumors have been circulating, EA and DICE have kept their cards close to their chest.
However, DICE have provided an update on the future of Battlefield, which has revealed some exciting new details on 2021’s installment.
They have said that this year, they have “the biggest Battlefield development team ever working on our console and PC game for this Holiday season” as they work with “more world-class development studios within Electronic Arts.”
In this reveal, we finally have confirmation if Battlefield 2021 will be on next-gen consoles only. DICE said that all of these new features will be “brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.” So from this announcement, we understand that this year’s Battlefield title will be on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles only, as well as PC.
While Battlefield 2021 may not arrive on Xbox One and PS4s, it’s rumored that it will launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one. There is also no word if Battlefield 6 will feature crossplay, but as this has become industry standard, it’s highly likely.
DICE revealed that Battlefield 6 is now in the “daily playtesting mode” where they’re “polishing, balancing,” and making the best possible Battlefield game they can.
They promised that Battlefield 2021 has “everything we love about Battlefield,” including “Epic scale,” “Crazy, unexpected moments,” and “Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before.”
While there is no confirmation of when Battlefield 6 will be revealed, DICE said that we should get ready for their reveal “soon™” with a cheeky wink.

Apex Legends dev confirms plans to buff L_STAR in Season 9
Respawn Entertainment are planning some major improvements for the L-STAR weapon in Apex Legends Season 9.
In response to the less-than stellar reception of the L-STAR Energy LMG in Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment are looking to buff the weapon for the upcoming Season 9.
The L-STAR is an Energy LMG in Apex Legends that functions with an ‘overload’ mechanic. This means that rather than having a standard magazine, it makes use of weapon stacks at the cost of having to cool the weapon down after a bit.
While this makes the weapon incredibly useful during the early parts of the match, many players often opt to switch to another weapon afterwards. As a result, Respawn Entertainment have decided to work on the gun for Season 9.
Apex Legends players have been petitioning to give the L-STAR some base ammo. This is because if someone steals your ammo stacks, then you’ll be left completely defenseless in the midst of battle.
While Respawn aren’t currently planning to add that, they’ve reassured fans that they’re working on some major L-STAR changes for Season 9, and these will arrive with the new content in the Legacy update.
“It’s not a problem every time because guns have their ammo spawn next to them, but it definitely is too common that you get one with 0 ammo and can’t use it,” wrote developer David Bocek.
Bocek feels that adding flat ammo for the weapon will result in players abusing it to farm energy ammo. So instead, they have a different solution planned that “has some weirdness” and “has the potential for lots of bugs.”
While he didn’t give too much detail about what this big change will be, he made it clear that they’ve already got some initial work done, but it wasn’t ready for the next season launch.
The L-STAR has been buffed recently as well. Hopefully, the new changes will get rid of the problems plaguing the weapon.
