Wall running was one of the most popular features in Titanfall 2, and Apex fans have been begging Respawn to put it in the battle royale for a while. Now one developer has given an explanation as to why the feature “doesn’t fit” in the game.
The ‘wall running’ mechanic in Titanfall allowed players to maneuver around the map in style, and fans have wanted to see it in Apex Legends ever since the battle royale launched. Despite this, Respawn never added the feature to the battle royale.
They left it out of the game in order to avoid giving Apex too many similarities to Titanfall. However, this hasn’t swayed the fans’ demands. Respawn has no plans to implement this mechanic to the game, and now one developer has elaborated on why that’s the case.
Wall running is a “bad fit” for Apex Legends
Respawn developer Daniel Z. Klein talked about this topic in the Apex Legends subreddit. He stated they won’t implement wall running because it isn’t a good fit for the battle royale.
“I’m not saying wall running is bad. I’m saying wall running is a bad fit for Apex Legends,” Klein wrote “[Apex] is a game where positioning matters, where getting the drop on enemies matters… loadouts matter.”
“If you ‘bust open the skill ceiling’ with vertical fast movement like wall running, all the core aspects of Apex Legends ‘become irrelevant,'” he elaborated. “Is my opponent a lot better than me at the movement model? If so, I’m screwed, no matter what else.”
“Anecdotally, people absolutely loved the constant sugar high of Titanfall multiplayer, but then also very quickly burned out on it,” he added. “Sure, some players stuck with it for a very long time, but on average it’s the kind of game you play and absolutely love for a few weeks and then you’re kind of done.”
It’s clear that the developers don’t feel that adding this mechanic will improve the experience of playing Apex Legends. Despite this, we still had wallrunning in the “Fight or Fright” Halloween event for a short while. At the moment, it’s “unlikely” that we’ll see this feature implemented for good.
Respawn might revisit wall running again
We may not see wall running in Apex Legends anytime soon, but the developer made it clear that the mechanic ‘still has a future’ in their upcoming titles.
We’ve already seen it return in their Star Wars game, ‘Jedi: Fallen Order.’ The main character Cal was able to traverse across different terrains and environments through sliding, climbing, and of course; wall running.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if a game that’s less player-vs-player focused could bring the amazing movement model of Titanfall 2 back. Like, if there ever is a Titanfall 3, for instance… it’s just not a good fit for Apex Legends,” he stated.
While we won’t have wall running in Apex Legends, there are still a ton of fun mechanics for you to take advantage of. This includes a trick that you can use to infinitely slide, so jump into the battle royale and try it out.

Apex Legends Emergence Season 10 update patch notes
Apex Legends Season 10 release date
Firstly, let’s start with Season 10’s release.
Apex Legends Season 10: Emergence will arrive on August 3, just after the end of Season 9.
As many already know, Season 10 is entitled Emergence, perhaps hinting at the rise of a new Legend.
Apex Legends Season 10: New Legend Seer
With the new Season 10 gameplay trailer and sneak peek on his abilities at EA Play Live 2021, where other iconic games like Battlefield also presented new content, players finally have an understanding of how the Legend will operate.
- Passive: Heartbeat Sensor, Seer will be able to track enemies with a heartbeat sensor and gain information on their where abouts within a close vicinity.
- Tactical: Moth Drones, once tracked down with the Heartbeat Sensor, Seer can then send out his moth drones to keep tabs on their movements, similarly to Bloodhounds Scan.
- Ultimate: Seer’s moth combine to create a large sphere which tracks enemy footsteps when they’re running.
New Rampage LMG
Further, much like how players were given the Bocek Bow last season, Season 10 will introduce another new weapon called the Rampage LMG.
The Rampage LMG looks very interested and seems to charge up with Thermite Grenades, much like the Sentinal with Shield Cells.
Once charged up, this heavy-hitting machine will be able to break through doors much like Rampart’s Ultimate, Shiela, preventing enemies from camping behind doors.
As this new weapon is an LMG, many believe we could be seeing the Spitfire replacing the Prowler in the care package, but when more information is released, we will keep you updated.
Apex Legends Season 10 Emergence: Battle Pass
Like every season, players will also be getting a new battle pass with lots of new cosmetics and rewards to earn.
From the latest gameplay trailer, we were able to see some of these in action, including a new Valkyrie skin, Horizon skin, and what we suspect will be the Tier 100 Legendary Volt skin.
New Arenas maps and ranked mode
Season 10 will also introduce a host of new Arenas maps, which were shown in the new trailer.
The new maps that will be arriving are:
- Kings Canyon – Hillside
- World’s Edge – Dome
- Olympus – Oasis
Further, the new season will also bring Ranked Arenas, which players have been asking for since Arenas was released in Season 9. The Ranked format will be different from Ranked Leagues and more attuned to how Arenas works.
Stay tuned for more on Ranked Arenas.
World’s Edge map changes
Apex Legends Season 10 Emergence will also see a variety of changes coming to World’s Edge, implementing various new POIs, leaving some of the ones players are familiar with completely unrecognizable.
Just to name a few of the POIs that will be changing:
- Refinery is now Climatizer
- Sorting Factory has turned into Lava Siphon
- Train Yard has been destroyed by a land slide
That’s all for the Apex Legends Season 10 patch notes. As more information is released regarding Legend changes and weapon balancing for Emergence, we will update this piece, so be sure to check back here for new information.

Seer’s abilities discussed at EA Play for Apex Legends Season 10: Emergence
Apex Legends upcoming Season 10 will feature a brand new Legend called “Seer,” who may even give Bloodhound a run for his money.
Apex Legends revealed further details on Season 10: Emergence at EA Play recently, giving players an insight into how the new Legend Seer will operate.
Season 9: Legacy has been a great success for Respawn, introducing a brand new way to play the battle royale with Arenas and expanding the roster with arguably the most balanced Legend they have introduced since the launch of Seasons, Valkyrie.
As well as enjoying the current event, Thrillseekers, which saw a new Arena’s map enter their game, players have also been getting their first details on Season 10: Emergence, especially the new Legend, Seer.
On July 22, EA held their annual showcase event, EA Play Live. As well as a variety of their games being showcased, such as Battlefield and Fifa, Apex Legends used this event to reveal the first official Apex Legends Season 10 trailer.
Although this wasn’t a gameplay trailer, it still provided a load of hints and details concerning Apex Legends’ new character Seer, including how his abilities will work.
As well as this, after the trailer had finished, one of Respawn’s developers provided even more information on Seer, where fans were given an explanation of his Passive, Tactical, and Ultimate abilities.
Apex Legends Seer abilities
Much like Bloodhound, Seer is a Recon Legend who will be mainly focused on gaining intel on enemies with a stealthy playstyle. Seer’s kit is all about tracking the opposition, but it seems the abilities are much more pinpoint than Bloodhound’s scan.
Apex Legends Seer: Passive ability
Seer will gain access to a heartbeat sensor when aiming down sights and be able to track nearby enemies. Although there is currently no representation of this in-game, perhaps players can expect something similar to Call of Duty’s famous Heartbeat Sensor tactical equipment.
After sensing an enemy’s heartbeat, Seers tactical ability will allow him to send out his Moth Drones to track them down and reveal their position.
Finally, Seer’s Ultimate ability will send out a heap of drones that will combine to create a sphere. Seer will be able to sense and track anyone who is moving fast within this sphere, creating an interesting gameplay mechanic, which may cause teams to alter their movements in order to stay undetected.
Although we don’t currently have any official gameplay of these abilities, the reveal trailer and descriptions of the abilities do a great job at giving players an idea of how Seer will work in-game.
Make sure to check back on this page as more information is released regarding Seer and Season 10, as it seems on July 25, we will be getting our first gameplay trailer.
