Rocket League is turning seven! Celebrate soccar with Psyonix with special challenges, birthday ball modes, and the arrival of Golden Eggs as part of the Rocket League Birthday Ball.

It’s hard to believe that we’ve been driving rocket-powered cars at massive soccer balls for almost a decade. Easy to pick up but difficult to master, Rocket League has become a firm favorite with gamers around the world.

With the game’s seventh anniversary just around the corner, developer Psyonix has announced the Rocket League Birthday Ball, a special two-week event with the return of fan-favorite modes, new challenges, and more.

When is the Rocket League Birthday Ball event?

Rocket League’s Birthday Ball kicks off on Wednesday, July 6, and is scheduled to run until Wednesday, July 20.

The event starts a day before the game’s birthday as Thursday, July 7, actually marks the seventh anniversary of Rocket League’s release.

Rocket League Birthday Ball challenges & rewards

Psyonix says that the game’s seventh anniversary “isn’t just about [them],” and wants to celebrate “the players and community who helped grow Rocket League.”

With that in mind, the developers are adding a set of Birthday Ball Challenges, where players can earn a Golden Goat Player Banner, a Precious Metal Avatar Border, an Import Item Drop, and 20,000 XP.

On top of those sweet treats, anyone who completes all of the Birthday Ball challenges will also get 300 Credits as a thank you. The challenges haven’t been revealed just yet, so we don’t know how hard they will be. Still, with rewards like these, it’s worth giving them a go.

Fan-favorite modes return & Seventh Anniversary Cosmetics

Psyonix will be bringing back two fan-favorite modes to help fans celebrate the big birthday. For Week One, 2v2 Heatseeker is back, a mode that gives the ball homing abilities that make it gravitate towards your opponent’s goal.

In Week Two, Knockout is back, allowing players to send players flying out of the arena with the unique Attack, Block, and Grab mechanics.

On top of all that, Psyonic will also be adding some special cosmetics to the Item Shop too, with the Titanium White Fennec, Fancy Formal Fennec decal, Spyder: Anniversary Edition Wheels, and Top Hat: Anniversary Edition topper all available to purchase.

Golden Eggs

Throughout the two weeks of Birthday Ball, players will be able to earn Golden Eggs, which can be used to unlock items from Champions Series 1-4.

Golden Eggs are just like other Golden rewards, which can be earned by completing challenges five times.

Completing the Birthday Ball challenges will require plenty of car-ball action, so give yourself an advantage over your opponents with the best Rocket League camera settings.
