The Red Dead series has become one of Rockstar’s flagship IPs. Just three years after Red Dead Redemption 2 broke new ground in open-world gaming, a devs Linkedin has seemingly confirmed that the third game is in development.

As rumors about Grand Theft Auto 6 continue to swirl, and with the release of GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition behind us, Red Dead has been on the back burner in recent months.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in 2018 to critical acclaim, but Red Dead Online has failed to reach the lofty heights its modern-day counterpart has.

But if you’re waiting for another single-player experience in the wild west – you might be in luck. A LinkedIn page appears to have confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 3 is in development now.

A programmer working with Rockstar Games has mentioned “RDR3” in the Experience section of their Linkedin profile.

The description references, “two years experience leading vehicle AI team through development of RDR3 and other projects.”

This most likely describes the AI behind the horse and carts that can be seen roaming across the US countryside in the past two games.

It also lists the next-gen port of GTA 5, Heists, and Red Dead Redemption 2 in their released projects.

There has been a clear effort to grow the Red Dead franchise after Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick called it a “permanent” franchise in their release schedule.

Unfortunately, the listing doesn’t offer much extra information about how far along the overall game is, and Rockstar is known to leave big gaps between their releases.

It’s also worth noting that some fans are skeptical of this listing, claiming that “RDR3” was actually the internal name for Red Dead Redemption 2. With this in mind, take this listing with a pinch of salt until it is confirmed.

The news will get fans speculating where Red Redemption 3 will take us in terms of story. The last two games have focused on members of the Van der Linde gang, but there could be room to pick up where Jack Marston’s story left off in the first game.

Despite this apparent confirmation of the game’s development, we’ll probably have to wait many years before we get a full reveal.
