‘Sicario 2’ Director – Stefano Sollima – set to be Director of upcoming Call of Duty Movie

Back in 2015, Activision Blizzard announced the creation of Activision Blizzard Studios division to focus on creating movies and TV shows for their own IP. The first content the studio released was a Skylanders TV show on Netflix called Skylanders Academy. The show has been popular that Netflix has renewed it for its third season.

Alongside the TV show, Activision Blizzard announced in 2015 that there will looking at possible Call of Duty Movie ideas as well, and now, it looks like a plan for a Call of Duty movie is moving forward.

Today, sources told Variety that Sicario 2 Director, Stefano Sollima, has been tapped to be the Director of the upcoming Call of Duty movie. A release date for the movie has not been announced yet. Variety also said that plot details for the movie has not been revealed and is still under wraps.

The Call of Duty movie is set to be produced by Activision Blizzard Studios’s Presidents Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk, and Activision Blizzard CEO, Bobby Kotick.

Activision Blizzard did not issue a comment to Variety about this as of now.

Back in 2017, Activision Blizzard Studios’ President’s stated they wanted to create a Marvel-like cinematic universe for Call of Duty with movie series and TV shows. The company has not announced any specific details about their upcoming movie plans for Call of Duty.
