Sledgehammer Games is continuing its massive expansion of studios with a new location opening.

The new studio location will be in Toronto, Canada per Activision President Rob Kostich.

Kostich confirmed during Activision’s Q1 investor call on May 4 that the Sledgehammer Games team continues to expand its team and reach.

The team is “stronger than ever”, says Kostich, and continues to expand “its talented team” substantially since 2017.

During the call, Kostich confirmed for the first time the studio is expanding to a new location of Toronto. This marks the first official mention of the Toronto studio for the company.

Sledgehammer Games now has studios in Foster City, California (their HQ), Melbourne, Australia, and now Toronto, CA.

SHG confirmed the news in a tweet:

Activision confirmed during the conference call that Sledgehammer Games is leading development of the 2021 Call of Duty title. The game is being “built” as a next-generation experience across all of its modes.

The studio recently confirmed they added over 150 new developers to their team across 2020, with over 50 more job listings still open on their website. No job listings currently posted are listed for Toronto.

Scump reveals the one thing he would change about CoD: Vanguard

2017 CoD World Champion Scump is a big fan of Vanguard, but thinks the game needs one major change before its November 5 release.

The Call of Duty: Vanguard Beta is officially finished, and while pro player Seth ‘Scump’ Abner had a lot of fun, the 2017 World Champion revealed that he thinks ‘time-to-kill’ needs adjusting before its November release.

Call of Duty fans only had a few days to try out the Vanguard Beta, but players have already had their say about the game, and more specifically what they want to be changed, from spawn improvements to the removal of overpowered Field Upgrades.

For OpTic Gaming legend Scump though, the Vanguard Beta was definitely enjoyable, praising the gameplay, maps, and overall feel. Despite loving it though, there’s one thing he thinks should be changed: the Vanguard TTK.

In a new video uploaded to his YouTube channel, the Call of Duty legend admitted he “loved” to play Vanguard, saying: “Usually with betas, you get sick of it really quick. I played it for about 6 hours every day, that’s impressive for a beta.”

However, when talking about the game’s weapons, the 2017 World Champions revealed that he believes the time-to-kill is a little too low and needs to be adjusted slightly.

“The weapons were a lot of fun to use, the gunplay was great,” he states. “My one big quarrel with the gunplay though is the time-to-kill needs to be a little bit slower. It’s pretty quick on every single gun.”

“I wish the time-to-kill was a little bit slower. Maybe they’ll tweak that, maybe they won’t, but right now you put three bullets into someone and they drop which I don’t really agree with. It feels [kind of like] hardcore.”

Whether Sledgehammer Games will make any changes to the TTK remains to be seen, but the developers did listen to complaints from the community and make adjustments between the first and second beta weekends, so it is possible.

This may be a design choice though, with Scump mentioning that both Warzone and Modern Warfare have fast time-to-kills as well — two games that run on the same engine as Vanguard.

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely we’ll know whether the devs have made any changes until Vanguard releases on November 5.

CoD hackers explain how cheating in Warzone helped them crack Vanguard

Hackers found a way into Call of Duty: Vanguard before it’s full release. Sources have now claimed that Warzone may have held the secret.

Many players were shocked to see that hackers had already made their way into the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta. Now, one hacker has revealed that the secret to breaking Vanguard came from Warzone.

The community has had its first extended look at CoD: Vanguard through the recently-ended Open Beta. This was fans’ chance to get to grips with the new maps, and the WWII aesthetic.

However, the fun was spoiled for some by cheaters that had already found a way to hack the game’s code. It has since been explained that it was past experiences with Warzone that helped them crack it.

Shortly after the much-anticipated Beta was opened up on September 16, players quickly began to notice that hacks like aimbots were already turning up in lobbies.

In some cases, cheaters had found a way to completely end matches early, which was frustrating fans because of the limited time they had to play the game over the course of the weekend.

In a report published by Vice, an industry source explained that it was their experience with previous titles like Warzone that paved the way for cheating in Vanguard.

“The core of the [Call of Duty] engine hasn’t changed much during the life of the franchise so porting a cheat from one game to another has always been very easy,” they said. The source also said that the code for Vanguard was very similar to that of Warzone or Modern Warfare.

According to CoD insider Tom Henderson, the Beta launched with the same protection against cheaters that is present in Warzone at the moment, which we already know has been ineffective.

In the same report, hack developer IWANTCHEATS also warned that its Vanguard cheats will work with the new Pacific Map coming as part of the integration into Warzone.

Unfortunately, we won’t know if this is true until more details surface about the updated anti-cheat system due to be added to the battle royale later this year. Fans will hope that their experiences with hackers won’t translate into the next CoD chapter.

Best Kar98k loadout for CoD: Vanguard Beta

The Kar98k is a lightning-quick Sniper Rifle in Call of Duty: Vanguard, so here’s the best loadout with Perks and attachments to fit.

cod vanguard kar98k sniper rifle

Call of Duty: Warzone players will be instantly familiar with the Kar98k Sniper Rifle, and it’s now back in its natural habitat in World War II. So we’ve assembled an excellent class for you to gear up and dominate with, so here’s our best Kar98k Vanguard loadout.

With the level of variation and accessibility in CoD: Vanguard’s maps, there will be plenty of opportunities for players to snipe.

If the 3-Line doesn’t take your fancy, or you want to default to a recognizable gun, then the Kar98k should do the trick nicely. It’s a rapid rifle with plenty of firepower, so here’s how you can make it a formidable beast in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Beta.

Best Vanguard Kar98k loadout

Best Vanguard Kar98k Gunsmith loadout attachments

  • Muzzle: MK. 2 Stabilizer
  • Barrel: Krausnick 560MM LWS03K
  • Optic: M1913 Variable 4-8x
  • Stock: Short Stock
  • Underbarrel: Heavy Foregrip
  • Magazine: 8MM Jaeger 3 Round Mag
  • Ammo Type: Subsonic
  • Rear Grip: Fabric Grip
  • Proficiency: Shrouded
  • Kit: Fully Loaded

For the best Vanguard Kar98k loadout, we will slap on the MK. 2 Stabilizer as it peps up the weapon’s range. To complement the muzzle, the Krausnick 560MM LWS03K gives us what we’re looking for with a healthy ADs boost while not sacrificing other stats too much.

Our ideal optic is available early on in the M1913 Variable 4-8x as it gives us two valuable options to switch between with ease, and given that we want a lot of speed for the best Vanguard Kar98k loadout, the Short Stock negates a lot of that ADS time while boosting movement speed.

The Heavy Foregrip is perfect for quickening spring-to-fire time to get your eye down that sight faster when using the best Vanguard Kar98k loadout. The 8MM Jaeger 3 Round Mag reduces the ammo capacity slightly but boosts ADs and reload quickness. The Subsonic rounds keep you mostly minimap-free when firing.

Attaching the Fabric Grip boosts our vital speed stats more so. Shrouded is an OP proficiency that can reduce sniper glint, and to finish off, Fully Loaded gets us one starting bullet back per mag.

Best Perks to run with Kar98k class

high alert perk in cod vanguard
  • Perk 1: Ghost
  • Perk 2: High Alert
  • Perk 3: Overkill

Ghost will possibly be the most selected Perk in all of Call of Duty: Vanguard as it can effectively shield you from Spy Planes, Field Mics, and Enemy Intel.

We’ve opted for High Alert for the best Vanguard Kar98k loadout as sniping is fun and a sneaky practice, but if you’re taking enemy players out, they’ll be hunting you. High Alert will inform you that you’ve been seen and perhaps give you a second or two to retreat before your Killstreak is ended.

Finally, Overkill is a necessity for a Sniper Class such as this one. No matter how good the Kar98k is, you’re going to get into some sketchy situations out on the battlefield, so you’ll need a solid AR or SMG to swap to quickly.

How to unlock the Kar98k

kar98k loadout options in cod vanguard

Like other weapons in the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta, most players have not had the chance to line up some headshots with the Kar98k as it’s not unlocked straight away.

With the knowledge that most Warzone players main a Kar as their Sniper Rifle, Sledgehammer Games decided to make the Kar98k a Level 26 unlock for Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Best alternatives

If sniping and long-range gameplay isn’t your style, or you need a great gun to make Overkill worth it, then we have some options besides the best Vanguard Kar98k loadout.

The Volk is another fast and furious choice weapon selection for players to choose, or if you want something quite solid overall, the MG42 slays as well.

And that’s the best Vanguard Kar98k loadout you can run! Be sure to check out all of the other weapons, Perks, and Killstreaks in the Beta.
