Lead is one of the most valuable resources in Starfield, and you’ll need to stock up as you continue on your journey across the galaxy. Here are the best ways to farm lead in Starfield.

Starfield is packed full of different activities for players to try out, whether it’s following the main campaign or ticking off the many side missions. There are also plenty of other distractions, such as upgrading your powerful weapons or building an Outpost.

But no matter what you do in Starfield, there’s a good chance that you’ll need Lead. This is one of the most valuable resources in the game and is needed for crafting weapon mods and certain structures while creating a base.

If you’re looking to stock up, here are the best ways to get Lead in Starfield.

How to farm Lead in Starfield

Starfield players will come across Lead as they progress through the game, either by looting containers or picking it up off defeated enemies. However, you’re likely to need plenty of Lead for many of the game’s activities, so leaving it to chance isn’t always an option.

With this in mind, these are the fastest ways to farm Lead in Starfield:

Build an Outpost with an extractor

The most efficient way to collect Lead in Starfield is by using an extractor. These devices can be built at any Outpost as long as they have power, and will constantly mine the the resource while you go about your journey.

We recommend setting up the extractor somewhere in Jemison, as this is one of the most Lead-rich regions in the game that you also visit pretty early on.

Mining

If Outpost building isn’t your thing in Starfield, you can also manually mine Lead after you’ve landed on a planet. Simply equip your Cutter and start hacking away at the environment to quickly collect all nearby resources.

Some planets will have more than others, but you can use your scanner to find Lead deposits by looking for the symbol “Pb.” Hovering over a planet from your ship’s map will also reveal if Lead can be found on the surface.

The downside to this is that there’s no way to guarantee how much or little of the material you’ll come across until you start mining, but it’s an easy way to quickly rack up Lead on the go.

Buy from vendors

The last way to get Lead quickly in Starfield is by just buying it from one of the game’s many vendors. Major settlements and bases like Akila or The Key all have plenty of shops and NPCs that will happily sell you the material if you have enough credits.

Prices will vary from place to place, but New Atlantis and Cydonia both offer Lead at a reasonable cost. However, this should be a last resort as there are other methods to find Lead for free and better ways to spend credits in the game.
