Does Starfield have multiple endings?
The short answer is no, Starfield does not have multiple endings. It is just one ending that the game revolves around. However, do not worry, as there are enough variations in it to make it feel like a game with multiple endings.
The premise of the ending is that you become Starborn and fuse with Unity, a massive circular structure of light. However, you will encounter multiple variations of the ending, as you will come to know about the results of the various events, the fates of your companions, and more in each ending.
This makes you experience something entirely different every time you complete a playthrough with slightly different outcomes.
Starfield endings explained
You will reach the end of Starfield once you collect all the Artifacts and complete the Armillary. At this point, you will be given the choice of jumping into Unity, the ball of light that is the center of all creation. You will also meet your character from another universe and a different timeline that will ask you to become Starborn.
As you approach the giant ball of light, you will witness the conclusions of all the people you have encountered in your universe. This heavily depends on the actions you have taken during your playthrough.
After you reach the end, you will be transported to another universe with your memories intact from the past. This is where you can begin your New Game Plus.
How to unlock every Starfield ending
In Starfield, your actions in your entire playthrough will determine what results you see during the main ending of the game. There are three different variations that you can unlock:
Romantic companion ending
It will depend on who your romantic partner in the game is. Both Sarah Morgan and Andreja will choose to be reborn themselves and your commitment to them will be great for all the Settled Systems.
With Sarah, you will have children who want to be explorers. With Andreja on the other hand, more people in House Va’ruun begin to question its outdated rule and look to the outside world.
Allying with The Hunter or The Emissary
In Starfield, if you ally with:
- The Hunter: You will make The Hunter reborn. This will inspire many who will want to dethrone powerful people, be it for good or bad.
- The Emissary: It will continue to thrive in the universe. They will find those who believe in Unity, which will be the rise of Starborns in the future.
- Neither of them: The path to Unity will be uninterrupted by Starborn, and will be open to anyone who seeks it in the Settled Systems.
Faction endings
This will be highly dependent on your faction involvement, as you will get to know the outcomes of the various factions you have joined. For example, the Crimson Fleet could be destroyed by UC SysDef if you help them in the game.
Pirate activity will be exterminated and travel will be much safer if you decide to destroy Crimson Fleet. However, keep in mind that siding against them will make the faction members attack you on-site.
Constellation is the default faction you join in Starfield. This means you will get to see its ending even if you have not joined any other. The faction publishes all the data regarding the Artifacts, the Unity, and the Starborn. This gives the space explorers in the Settled Systems a reason to go and search the stars once again.
Can you choose not to jump into the Unity in Starfield?
Yes, you can choose not to jump into the Unity in Starfield. However, this will not activate the ending and the New Game Plus. You can still explore and gather skills in your present universe and can jump into the Unity whenever you feel ready to end your first playthrough.
