To upgrade the Piloting skill fast in Starfield, you will have to destroy ships in your space battles. Although it seems to be quite easy to destroy ships and gain valuable XP to upgrade this skill, encountering an adequate amount of enemies might prove to be a challenge.

There are two very effective ways through which you can fulfill the prerequisites and gain some sweet XP for this skill:

• If not joined the UC Vanguard: Use the joining test as a way to upgrade this skill
• If already joined the UC Vanguard: Join the Crimson Fleet questline and complete it. Hopefully, you will be able to get your desired results. Alternatively, you can also do bounty missions for Freestar Rangers that involve fighting ships.

The first method is quite easy and the fastest method to upgrade your Piloting skill in Starfield. The best part is, you can do it quite early in the game. Once you meet with Commander Tuala for the first time, take up his offer of joining the Vanguard.

You will have to take the entrance test where you will have to destroy ships in a realistic simulation. Keep in mind that you cannot complete the test until you report back to the examiner. Do not report back to him after completing your first run. This will enable you to take the test over and over again until you finish the upgrades.
