Starfield players call out city that was marketed as so much bigger
Blizzard EntertainmentStarfield features a handful of major cities and towns, but players have called out one city for not living up to its marketing.
Starfield has been one of the most popular games of 2023 as it became one of the most successful Bethesda titles of all time. Even after such a massive launch, the RPG has recently received several negative reviews about its gameplay and exploration.
Although Bethesda have deployed a few patches since launch, many players aren’t happy with how the devs have handled the feedback. Now, some players are also calling them out due to their pre-launch advertising of Starfield.
Reddit user ‘septicshock666’ posted their opinion on the game as they were unhappy with how the devs “marketed” Neon, one of the biggest cities in the game before launch. The OP shared the thumbnail from one of Bethesda’s location insight videos where they covered Neon, which they said looked quite different than the in-game city.
Many others agreed with the OP as they did not find the in-game Neon “desirable.” Starfield players drew comparisons with Skyrim, feeling the current results are “disappointing.”
The main issue the players have with Neon is that the devs made it much smaller than expected. Players feel that if a city is supposed to be one of the most developed cities in the Settled Systems, they should have made it bigger, not just “a giant oil platform in the middle of nowhere.”
“There were a lot of weird decisions in developing and marketing this game,” said one of the players. Others feel that even for one of the biggest and liveliest cities in the title, Neon seemed “utterly bland.”
Bethesda have promised that they will be taking player feedback into serious consideration for Starfield’s future. With so many negative remarks about the cities in it, many players would be expecting some results in the upcoming Shattered Space DLC.
