Starfield players can’t believe Fallout weapon customization option is missing
BethesdaStarfield players are calling for Bethesda to add a weapon customization feature from Fallout into the Galactic RPG.
Starfield is host to an abundance of content, as not only do players have a full campaign and a heap of side missions to get through, but there’s also a crazy amount of customization that players can spend hours on.
From designing your very own spaceship to customizing your character’s appearance, there’s so much on offer. Despite the game featuring seemingly infinite customization, of course, players would like to see more.
Weapons are a huge part of Starfield, and you’ll find many while exploring and looting the RPG’s many planets. One thing that Bethesda fans have noticed is that they aren’t able to swap gun mods between the same weapons like you can in Fallout 4.
Reddit user Voronov1 highlighted this in the Starfield subreddit, as they said “It’s atrocious that you can’t swap gun mods.”
They explain in the post that in Fallout 4, players are able to swap weapon mods such as barrels and reflex sights between each other so long as they are the same gun. However, in Starfield, “removing a Reflex Sight from one Maelstrom destroys it; you can’t place it on another Maelstrom.”
Clearly, the player is not too happy about the removal of this feature, as they ask “why?! In a game as dedicated to crafting, resources, and weapon and armor and spaceship customization as Starfield, why on Earth did they make this change?”
It seems like others are also baffled by the removal of this feature, as one comment read, “When I found out I was shocked,” while another said “this is actually one of my biggest complaints. Why aren’t guns and mods actually, you know, modular?”
It seems like for some players this was an important feature in Fallout 4 that they feel should be in Starfield: “It means you can’t swap attachments in and out readily, which is something I would do quite often in Fallout.”
It’s likely that a mod will be released to bring this feature to the game, or perhaps the devs will look to introduce the Fallout feature into Starfield after seeing the community’s reaction to its removal, perhaps in the upcoming Shattered Space DLC.
