Starfield player’s discovery makes the game feel “completely new” after 600 hours
BethesdaStarfield features many neat surprises that are tucked away on different planets and systems, with one player even claiming that the experience feels “completely new” after spending 600 hours in the game.
Given Bethesda’s penchant for creating huge games, it’s no surprise that Starfield is massive in size. The RPG packs in over 1000 planets and 100 star systems, all of which can be freely explored by players. While some of these locations hide incredible discoveries, others are unfortunately barren.
Nevertheless, players have already uncovered many cool secrets in Starfield, ranging from subsections within major cities to unique twists on the game’s main faction. A recurring theme that the community has observed since its release is that the experience only gets better if you pour more time into the game.
A Reddit post by user ‘Constellation_XI’ looked to reaffirm that idea, as the OP claimed that Starfield felt “like a completely new game” for them even after spending 600+ hours. They shared images of various Points of Interest and added that they had never seen them before.
The locations on display appeared to be variations of Mining Outposts, Desereted Ecliptic Garrisons, and other generic POIs. According to the OP, they discovered these sites in high-level star systems, but users quickly quashed the claim.
One player stated, “That first pic POI was one of the first ones I ran into when I explored at a very low level.” Another user backed the comment saying, “I see that one on every planet and moon I land on.”
Most of the replies seemed to contradict the OP’s claims, and one comment attributed the debate to the use of procedural generation, “I think this is an issue with the procgen.. I have 70 hours, I haven’t seen any of these. I keep seeing the f***ing cryo lab though, and the underground landing pad. There seems to be no safeguard against repetitive points of interest.”
Repetitive locations are one of the biggest criticisms placed against Starfield. Many of the game’s POIs are devoid of unique elements, and seeing the same locations pop up on different planets certainly doesn’t help its case.
The Reddit thread was filled with comments calling for more distinct POIs, and it remains to be seen if Bethesda address these complaints in the future.
