It’s happy times for Bethesda as their biggest title ever, Starfield has just achieved a miraculous milestone. It becomes Bethesda’s best launch yet, eclipsing even Skyrim and Fallout 4 after gathering millions of players on day one.

With a delayed release date and no PlayStation port, many believed that Starfield would not be as successful as Bethesda’s Skyrim and Fallout 4. However, just after day one, the game has been immensely successful after achieving the best launch in Bethesda’s history.

Although the game has received pretty mixed reviews from various outlets, it is certain that after this milestone, Starfield has been immensely popular. After being the most-watched game on Twitch recently, the latest RPG from Bethesda celebrates its high player count.

Starfield becomes the biggest Bethesda launch of all time

On September 7, 2023, Bethesda announced on their official Twitter page that Starfield has already surpassed 6 million players after day one to make it their biggest launch of all time. Plus, being available on the Xbox Game Pass on launch day surely helped to achieve this milestone.

As mentioned earlier, the game received mixed reviews due to optimization issues and low performance. But, with the help of a few mods, many players have been able to run it quite nicely. This was yet another major contributor to Starfield’s success.

Comparing Starfield’s numbers with Bethesda’s previous successful titles, Skyrim achieved 3.4 million sold copies at launch. Fallout 4, on the other hand, sold 5.2 million copies over the course of a week. So, it is quite clear that Starfield’s numbers are nothing short of massive here. Plus, Starfield is not PlayStation, so it becomes even more impressive.

Although the game didn’t have as much viewership as other big launches this year such as Diablo 4 and Hogwarts Legacy, the player count on day one surpasses most other games by a fair margin. Now the only thing left is to wait and see if Starfield can surpass the legacy of Bethesda’s biggest title ever, Skyrim.

Now that The Elder Scrolls 6 should soon be put into development, it is time for Starfield to rule the next few years of Bethesda’s RPG catalog.
