The Finals looks to have won over players with its chaotic blend of fast-paced gameplay and verticality, but the community is still calling for new game modes. The Finals players are even asking for the addition of a classic mode from Call of Duty.

The Finals from Embark Studios is the latest free-to-play shooter to enter the market. Despite facing heavy competition from other games in the genre, the FPS title has managed to gain a healthy player base.

Themed around a game show, The Finals sees players drop into combat areas populated with tall buildings and interactable objects. Players can pick between three classes and also choose the load-outs that best suit their playstyle. The primary objective is to collect cash and successfully secure it before enemy teams.

Thanks to the gunplay, an impressive range of gadgets, and the remarkable destructibility of buildings, The Finals is a fun experience right from the start. However, the game modes available at the moment have left some players wanting more.

The Finals became immediately popular after its release.

The Finals currently features three game modes, all of which revolve around banking cash. While the experience rarely gets stale, some players feel that the game has the potential to integrate well-known modes from other shooters.

A post by Reddit user ‘bajungadustin’ sparked a discussion around the topic on The Finals subreddit. In it, the OP stated that the “game is practically begging for a ‘Gun Game’ mode.” They also shared their vision for the mode, “Everyone starts as heavy with hammer. No specials. No gadgets. You get a kill you move to the next weapon. Starting point could be anything as long as everyone is the same.”

Gun Game is a classic game mode that features in Call of Duty titles. It sets up challenging fights, including the possibility of hunting down armed opponents with a melee weapon. Given The Finals’ diverse arsenal of weapons, Gun Game certainly makes sense from a gameplay perspective. Integrating it will likely require tweaks but the idea remains noteworthy.

In response to the suggestion, users in the comments shared what modes they would be interested in seeing. Aside from a ton of requests for Team Deathmatch, some recommended the introduction of Capture the Flag.

One user’s comment looked to have provided the best solution, “I just hope they implement a custom game workshop like overwatch has, then we’ll see this along with other great arcade/mini-games.”

To keep players engaged and interested, The Finals will probably have to explore new game modes in the future. It’ll be interesting to see how the game evolves as time goes on.
