Treyarch Studios has officially responded to the community regarding a frustrating bug that prevents players from previewing their gun in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

The latest installment in the high-profile Call of Duty franchise in Black Ops Cold War has been met with plenty of positive and negative feedback in the same way most games are received.

While players have praised the setting, gunplay, and movement, one of the frustrating aspects of the game has been various bugs that prevent players from doing certain things.

One of the most recent bugs of this nature is one that prevents Black Ops Cold War players from properly previewing their weapons in the gunsmith. However, a member of the game’s development studio, Treyarch Studios, has responded to this issue brought to light by the community.

Community member starless_salmon brought this preview gun bug up on the official subreddit for Black Ops Cold War by posting a video showing the player being unable to preview their weapon in the gunsmith.

Every time the player tried to preview their gun, they were met with an error message.

This led to a community manager from Treyarch Studios responding to the player and state that the studio is aware of this preview gun bug that is affecting Black Ops Cold War, so it seems that Treyarch is likely already working on a fix for this frustrating problem.

Previewing weapons has become a popular thing for players with the introduction of the gunsmith feature that has been in Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War, so not being able to use this feature properly is no doubt annoying for players.

Luckily, it looks as though a fix for it will be coming sometime in the future, as Treyarch is aware of the problem and wants the community to know it.

Cold War players reveal the classic World at War maps they want added

Some classic World at War maps have been outed as possible Cold War remakes by fans desperate for them to return.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is already tacked with a large number of multiplayer maps, but players have suggested some stellar World at War candidates for future remakes.

The Season 5 arrival of Cold War and Warzone is imminent, and we are getting prepped for major content drops. There are rumors as to what players can expect and they have been theorizing inventive new Scorestreaks, and leaks have revealed artwork ahead of time.

One of the key additions to every major season and Reloaded update are extra maps to allow more rotation and longevity in online multiplayer.

Rush was the most recent map to appear in Cold War Season 4, and with 12 more maps supposedly due to arrive in the game, players have highlighted a couple of maps they’d like to see.

World at War maps have been oddly conspicuous in their absence from Cold War, with Treyarch opting to favor the Black Ops games for remake content.

But Pandarek115 has shown off some maps they think would be the perfect addition to Black Ops Cold War Season 5 and beyond.

“Should Treyarch bring some World at War maps on Cold War? These are my suggestions… (Seelow 12v12 & Dome 2v2).”

For any players unaware of these two maps, Seelow was a big, almost village-like map with houses, gardens, and a river. It was a big countryside map that would be great for Combined Arms and bigger Cold War maps.

Whereas Dome was highly unique and managed to cram so much into relatively small battle space. The Reddit post says it would be good for 2v2, but in the same way that Diesel works for 2v2 and 6v6, Dome would be a very diverse, multi-purpose map.

This is purely speculation and wishlist stuff, but Treyarch presumably knows there is a craving for some nostalgic World at War content. It’s not impossible to see at least one of these two maps before Cold War’s run is over.

New Cold War and Warzone weapons teased in Season 5 cinematic

Clever CoD fans have spotted several new weapons teased in the Warzone and Cold War Season 5 cinematic, which are likely to arrive soon.

Warzone Season 5 Operator with TEC-9s

In the latest cinematic trailer, eagle-eyed Call of Duty fans have spotted the likely candidates for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 5’s weapons.

Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 4 brought some extremely powerful weapons to the mix, such as the C58 Assault Rifle and Nail Gun. Season 5 has finally been revealed, and players are keen to learn what new weapons Treyarch and Raven Software will bring.

The leaked Season 5 artwork revealed the TEC-9 Pistol would be coming to Call of Duty for the first time, but eagle-eyed fans have spotted several other weapons that have been teased.

Here’s every teased weapon from Season 5’s cinematic trailer.

TEC-9

Warzone and Cold War Season 5 official artwork

Fans first spotted the TEC-9 Pistol when the key art for Warzone and Cold War Season 5 was leaked. The brand-new Operator was seen wielding the automatic pistol Akimbo in both the artwork and now the teaser trailer.

This pistol has never been seen in Call of Duty before, but it could be extremely powerful at close range when dual-wielded.

Soviet Cosmonaut TP-82 Survival Sidearm

In this new trailer, Woods wields a brand-new one-handed Shotgun which some believe to be the Soviet Cosmonaut TP-82 Survival Sidearm.

Russian astronauts brought this small Shotgun to space, so they had some protection when landing in the Siberian wilderness. This sidearm has two Shotgun barrels and a lower rifle barrel that shoots 7.62mm rounds. Fans of Battlefield V will find it extremely familiar to the M30 Drilling, which doubled up as both a Shotgun and Rifle.

There’s no guarantee this is the TP-82, but it looks and acts extremely like it. Whatever this new weapon is, it’s sure to be a unique addition to Season 5.

EM1 Bullpup

Reddit user Vengance183 spotted what appears to be the British EM-1 in the Season 5 cinematic. This was an experimental weapon from the 1940s and was considered high-tech for its day.

One of the Warzone and Cold War Season 5 weapons is carried by Woods’ mysterious new squad member, and we get a good view when he drops it after using it as a club. Vengance183 paused the cinematic here, and we can see that it bears a striking resemblance to the EM-1 Rifle.

This won’t be the first time Cold War brings classic weapons to the game, with the PPSH-41 arriving in Season 3.

And that’s all the new weapons Black Ops Cold War players have spotted in the Season 5 cinematic! We expect a roadmap soon, and then we’ll get official confirmation of all of the new season’s upcoming weapons.

Frustrated players feel that quickscoping is “not balanced” in Black Ops Cold War

Despite previous nerfs, players feel that quickscoping is too overpowered and unbalanced in Black Ops Cold War. Season 4

cold war operator sniping

Black Ops Cold War’s lack of sniper flinch is frustrating players as they feel that if they come into contact with even a half-decent quickscoper then they can’t win in.

It was back in May 2021 that players were asking the devs to incorporate some flinch for Sniper Rifles. Quickscopers were able to pull off quickscoping with relative ease as even if they were being shot at, there would be no flinch effect at all, making it easy to keep aiming.

A minor change was added, but it didn’t seem to have the desired effect that players were hoping for. Now, an example has been shown of quickscoping still being quite broken as we close in on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 5.

In a Reddit post titled “This is not balanced, there is 0 counterplay whatsoever to quickscoping. You can’t have quickscoping with no flinch at high speeds in a 150HP COD,” user KingOfDunsparce showed why quickscoping is a problem.

In their video, they were already aiming at the player well before they could look down their scope. They manage to get away several shots with their PPSH-41 and visibly get a few hit markers on the opposing player.

But without warning, they were subjected to a quick one-hit-kill as they were dropped on the spot by the enemy player’s Swiss K31.

Upon closer inspection, the killcam showed that the quickscoping player aimed as normal the entire time and locked on without any trouble.

The top commenter on the article said: “Sad part is, you did everything right. Used an SMG for close quarters, threw a stun, aimed in first and got on target, started strafing, shot first, aaaand none of it mattered. He won that fight purely because of the gun and nothing else.”

Now, the stun grenade was miles away from the sniper, so that had no bearing on the encounter. But the rest was just a case of the player being unable to contend with an unimpeded, one-hit-kill shot.

Given that this is something that Cold War players have asked to be fixed for multiple seasons now, it now begs the question of if the game will ever receive the fix it needs.
