Infinity Ward’s two lead campaign narrative directors, Taylor Kurosaki and Jacob Minkoff, have announced they have left Infinity Ward.

Kurosaki and Minkoff joined Infinity Ward back in August 2014 from Naughty Dog, where the pair were key leads in some of Naughty Dog’s biggest games. Both are credited for working on the Uncharted series for PlayStation, included Uncharted 4.

In a tweet posted on May 27, Kurosaki announced that him and Minkoff have left Infinity Ward “earlier this year.” It’s not clear the exact date for when the pair left the studio.

He says in the tweet that they both got a “rare and exciting new opportunity” to pursue but did not state what their new adventure would be.

Kurosaki and Minkoff were the two key individuals behind the story of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. During our visit to Infinity Ward in 2019, the pair were the first to introduce their vision for bringing a grounded, real story for Modern Warfare.

Infinite Warfare’s campaign was well received as one of the best campaigns in the Call of Duty franchise, and Modern Warfare’s story was also highly appreciated.

Modern Warfare has went on to become one of the best selling Call of Duty games of all time.

What this means for the studio remains to be seen. Infinity Ward is probably well into the development of their next Call of Duty title, which will most likely release in Fall 2022.

Infinity Ward has not commented on who will be taking over the narrative direction of the studio going forward.
