Riot confirm a new wave of Valorant bans is coming
Valorant is being plagued by an increasing number of cheaters and smurf accounts, so Riot devs have made it clear to fans on Reddit that they’ve noticed the problem, and made plans to deal with it.
There is a plethora of new Valorant content on the way, such as new agents and abilities, so there is a lot to be excited about in the future. However, cheating and smurfing are two major issues that Riot Games are still dealing with.
One player decided to get answers from the developers. After a Reddit thread about the issue blew up, one of the devs finally responded to fan questions and explained the planned solution.
Riot devs respond to Valorant cheating
Reddit user PeteyySD started the thread, where they vented their frustration at the “surge in cheaters” in the game in recent months.
The player made it clear that anytime they reported a cheater, they would show up again in different games. Riot developer, RayKay, took notice of this and issued a response, reassuring fans that Riot plans to implement some serious anti-cheat measures this year.
RayKay said, “Hey sorry about the cheating we are aware and bans are incoming. While we can never stop all cheating we want to make sure that it does not effect your ranked progress.
Our team is looking to make many improvements this year based on the feedback we received and hard lessons we learned last year. Keep those reports and feedback coming.”
There was another question about whether or not players will be able to get back lost MMR from games that have been infested by cheaters, or have their ranks brought back to their original spots. Unfortunately, that isn’t something the developers are focusing on.
Raykay explained, “that is a cool idea, that is something we would like to do but got some bigger priorities in front of it right now.” While we’re relieved that Riot will be making some changes, they haven’t come up with a proper fix yet.
It’s good to know that the developers are taking this matter seriously. Hopefully, we’ll get a solution soon. Until then, the best we can do is report unfair play whenever we come across it.
