Valorant: All Clove abilities explained
Riot GamesIf you haven’t unlocked the new Agent Clove in Valorant yet and want to know how its abilities work, take a look at all of Clove’s abilities explained, including some tips you should keep in mind to make the most of each round.
The new Agent Clove has arrived in the Valorant Episode 8 Act 2 along with a completely new set of abilities. The Scottish-born controller has been the center of attention in recent weeks; however, after much anticipation, players can now jump into Valorant, unlock this new Agent, and grind its pass.
Clove’s main role is controller, but its well-rounded abilities can completely overshadow some Agents. Take a look at what Clove’s abilities are all about.
Valorant: All Clove’s abilities explained
Valorant Clove has a mixed set of abilities that encompass controller (smokes) and duelist (decay grenade and temporarily buffs after getting a kill). However, Clove’s resurrection mechanic allows you to use the abilities you haven’t yet spent once resurrected, and you can even use one of them after you’ve been eliminated from the round.
Meddle (Q)
Clove focuses a fragment of immortality essence that, once thrown, deteriorates the life essence of those hit by the blast. To use Meddle in a game you should press ‘Q’ to equip the fragment and press again to throw it, and after a short delay, it erupts and temporarily decays all targets caught inside.
Meddle is crucial for post-plant situations, especially when knowing where opponents may come from or could be hiding. You can execute a combo with Meddle and some explosive abilities like Raze’s Paint Shells or Sova’s Shock Bolt and instantly eliminate enemies caught by Clove’s Meddle.
Ruse (E)
Clove’s mind projects a view of the battlefield from above. Using their essence, they manifest vision-obscuring clouds that change the flow of battle, even in death. To smoke with Clove’s Ruse, you first need to press ‘E’ to view the map, then press again to set the smokes, and finally press right-click to confirm.
This ability is key for Clove as they can use it even if they are almost dead. When used correctly, it can help your teammates who are still alive by creating fake smoke or blocking the enemy’s vision when entering a site.
Pick-Me-Up (C)
Clove absorbs the life energy of a fallen enemy, granting them a moment of increased agility and health. Once a fallen enemy that Clove damaged or killed, press ‘C’ to instantly absorb its life energy and gain haste and health temporarily.
This ability is very similar to Reyna’s (Q) Devour. It’s good to keep this ability for moments when the team is at a numerical disadvantage. Another good use would be to use it after resurrecting with Clove’s Not Dead Yet.
Not Dead Yet (X)
Clove defies death by activating their immortality essence. To stabilize their form, they must remove the life energy of an opponent. After dying, press ‘X’ to resurrect. Once resurrected, Clove must earn a kill or a damaging assist within a set time or they will die.
Positioning is crucial when using Not Dead Yet, as if you initially died surrounded by enemies, it’s difficult to survive despite Clove’s Ultimate Ability. However, you can always make the most of the time limit and reposition yourself before getting the assistance or kill that brings you back to round.
