Call of Duty: Vanguard players have been desperate for the Trophy System to be added and the devs confirmed it will finally arrive in Season 3 as a Field Upgrade.

The Trophy System has become a staple in Call of Duty, being an important tool in Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops Cold War. However, players were extremely disappointed to learn that there would be no Trophy System Field Upgrade in Vanguard.

Grenades and other Lethal Equipment are more powerful than ever with no Trophy System to block them, but that’s about to change, as the Season 3 roadmap announces its return.

Trophy Systems are designed to destroy throwables such as Grenades while they’re in the air, protecting those nearby. Without the Trophy System, players have long complained that Vanguard suffers from grenade spam.

Frustrated players often bring up a clip where Vanguard’s Creative Director Greg Reisdorf said “it is a WW2 game,” when asked about the Trophy System. What he did say after, however, is that “we’ve taken some liberties with World War II” and “there’s a lot of opportunity” for it to be added in a live season.

It appears that season is here, as Sledgehammer Games have confirmed that the Trophy System will arrive with April 27’s Season 3.

The Vanguard Season 3 roadmap revealed that the Trophy System will be free for everyone at launch with no unlock challenge. The devs revealed that it will intercept “Frag Grenades, Sticky Bombs, and No. 69 Stun Grenades while they are still in the air, neutralizing them before they reach the area around the Trophy System.”

Dead Silence has long been the meta Field Upgrade in Vanguard’s Ranked Play, so it will be interesting to see how a Trophy System affects how CDL players and Ranked Play grinders approach attacking and defending hills.

Once it arrives in Season 3, it’ll be worth adding the Trophy Systems to the best Ranked Play loadouts.
