Vanguard Zombies players slam “boring” Terra Maledicta map

Vanguard Zombies zaballa the deceiver

Vanguard Zombies wasn’t well-received by the community on launch, but Treyarch included a ton of new content with the Season 2 update. However, players still aren’t impressed with the map design and have called Terra Maledicta “boring” and “exhausting.”

Call of Duty: Vanguard changed up the classic Zombies formula, ditching the round-based format for Portals with objectives. Players were less than impressed with Der Anfang, which was played on Vanguard multiplayer maps, and were hoping for a better experience with the Season 2 update.

While Treyarch finally added the Ray Gun and new Decimator Shield, many Zombies fans have quickly gotten sick of the “boring” and ‘unchallenging’ Terra Maledicta map.

Terra Maledicta Vanguard Zombies Easter Egg

Rather than surviving wave after wave of the undead while completing objectives such as a lengthy Main Quest Easter Egg, Terra Maledicta has players enter portals with an objective on the other side.

Reddit user ‘XLoad3D’ took to the Zombies subreddit to complain that teleporting is exhausting in Season 2’s Terra Maledicta map. While almost every comment agreed, many said it’s not just the portals that are the problem.

Several players called Vanguard Zombies ‘exhausting,’ with kylerm050 calling it “the definition of exhausting.” One player said that even after the new map, Zombies feels like “a waste of time and resources.”

“The new map is just the same objectives,” explained the OP. “It’s a smidge better because the amount of zombies got increased, but it’s just so boring and doesn’t feel challenging at all.”

“Vanguard is just terrible,” replied another. “There’s barely any freedom to do what you want to do like in every round-based zombies map.”

Players can jump into a small round-based version of the classic Shi No Numa map, but whether Treyarch will introduce a full round-based experience during Vanguard’s lifecycle remains to be seen. The devs previously said that “round-based fans” aren’t being forgotten about, so we’ll need to wait and see what they have in store for Season 3 and beyond.
