Verdansk back in Warzone Season 5? Be careful what you wish for

Warzone players are desperate for Verdansk to return before Warzone 2 arrives, but players should be careful what they wish for.

Warzone players and content creators alike have been calling for Verdansk to return in Season 5 so they can play it one last time before Warzone 2. However, there are some things to consider before demanding Verdansk’s return.

The idea of Verdansk brings back fond memories for many Warzone players. Having a ton of friends online, dropping into this sprawling landscape, and fighting to be the last team standing is how many spent 2020.

However, fatigue eventually set in, and players were desperate for a new map. Caldera finally arrived in December 2021, but many were disappointed with the new offering and called for Verdansk to return.

Warzone 2.0 arrives later in 2022, and social media has been flooded with players demanding Verdansk’s return in Season 5 as a final send-off before Warzone 2 arrives.

Regardless of your thoughts on Caldera, there are some things to consider before demanding that Raven Software bring back the OG map.

Take off the rose-tinted glasses

There’s no denying that Verdansk is a huge reason for Warzone’s success, and almost every player has fond memories of dropping Superstore while stuck inside. While Caldera isn’t everything that players wanted, it fixed a ton of Verdansk’s issues.

On top of its muted color palette that players often complained about, stairways, tall buildings, and wide-open spaces with little-to-no cover infested Verdansk. Downtown had a team on the roof of almost every building, making the area a deathtrap for anyone passing through.

Caldera, on the other hand, has fewer opportunities for players to camp inside buildings. There are no skyscrapers with 30-odd floors to climb, nor are there buildings like the ATC with only an elevator to reach the top.

This wasn’t as much of an issue when Modern Warfare weapons were the meta, but Vanguard guns are a different story. Long-range beamers like the NZ-41 would be a nightmare on Verdansk, as players could effortlessly beam enemies across the map. This would force players inside, and a ton of fights would be a stalemate as rooftop campers would have every option covered.

Verdansk Airport ATC tower

Redeploy Balloons could be the saving grace here though. Players could fly across the map to avoid rooftop campers raining hell from above, and if the balloons could fling players high enough to reach the top of the skyscrapers, then this might help to alleviate the camping problem.

Think of the bugs

Warzone’s developers have already admitted that the game is “bloated,” which makes it difficult for them to find bugs and patch them quickly. While Fortune’s Keep had a relatively smooth launch, there’s no guarantee that Verdansk would return without issue.

Considering that there’s rumored to be no Season 6, this would only give the developers one season to fix any problems. And if it does take a season to get Verdansk to a place where players are happy, then they’ll most likely have moved onto Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 by the time it arrives.

Nobody wants the last few weeks of Warzone to be frustrating due to a ton of bugs and under-the-map glitches, and replacing Caldera with Verdansk could open up a Pandora’s Box-worth of issues.

Your hard drive would suffer

Warzone’s Creative Lead Josh Bridges explained that they want to add map rotation between Verdansk and Caldera, but “there’s a technical problem.”

“The install and reinstall sizes are f***ing crazy. It’s insane,” Bridges explained. “If we pulled out Caldera and said, ‘okay, we’re gonna drop in Verdansk,’ this could be essentially like redownloading the size of Warzone.”

They explained that every time they dropped a large update, they actually lost players. He explained that players would be like “I don’t wanna redownload this — uninstall.”

Of course, many players have said that loads of their friends who had quit would return for Verdansk. However, many players would see a 100 GB update and avoid it entirely.

While some might not mind a “f***ing crazy” download, this would be a serious issue for players with limited hard drive space.

It’s entirely possible that players want to recapture the feeling of playing Verdansk, rather than Verdansk itself. While I’m sure plenty of OG players will be delighted to see the map return, if you’re one of the players hounding Raven Software to bring the original map back, it’s worth having a think about what this could mean for the game.

You shouldn’t have to wait long before there’s a new map to play in any case, as Warzone 2’s leaked map is set to feature plenty of POIs from the original Modern Warfare 2.

DEADROP dev responds as fans accuse CoD of stealing skin from Dr Disrespect game

Dr Disrespect fans are convinced Activision copied a Variant his game for their latest Warzone skin, and a DEADROP dev has responded.

Doomslayer skin in Warzone and Vanguard

Activision dropped Warzone and Vanguard’s Tracer Pack Malware Ultra Skin but players immediately noticed a striking similarity with Dr Disrespect’s DEADROP, and it looks like it’s even prompted a response from a Midnight Society developer.

Not long after Activision had to apologize for copying artwork from an independent artist, plagiarism accusations are flying once again. This time concerning Vanguard and Warzone’s new Doomslayer skin which Dr Disrespect fans immediately recognized.

Dr Disrespect’s ‘vertical extraction shooter’ DEADROP is currently in development, and there have already been plenty of comparisons with Call of Duty — mostly from Doc himself. He’s previously said that Modern Warfare 2 can’t “match” DEADROP.

Those who have bought a DEADROP Founders Pass have received one of 10,000 “Variants,” which are unique in-game characters. Senior developers have shown off their Variants, and many think they are the inspiration for Call of Duty’s latest bundle.

The Tracer Pack Malware Ultra skin dropped in Warzone and Vanguard on August 15, featuring a hooded sci-fi character with a skull-faced digital visor. Those words could also be used to describe DEADROP founder Robert Bowling’s Variant, and players were quick to make the comparison.

“Damn, they had to scrap the Dog they ripped off then went straight for a DEADROP variant,” replied one Twitter user. “Looks like whoever created this skin TRIED to copy the Variant of one of the leaders of [Midnight Society],” commented another.

While not a direct response, Bowling, who’s an ex-Infinity Ward dev, tweeted: “At least name it after me.”

Not everyone was convinced that the skin was a straight copy though, as some said that it’s a classic sci-fi design that’s been around longer than DEADROP.

We’ll need to wait and see whether Activision respond to the accusations, but Doc fans are convinced. In the meantime, check out how NICKMERCS will be “brutally honest” if he thinks DEADROP is trash.

Warzone players claim lag is making game “unplayable” after Season 4 Reloaded patch

Warzone Pacific players are frustrated with the severe lag that is making the game “unplayable” in Season 4 Reloaded.

Numerous Warzone Pacific players have reported experiencing severe lag which has made the game unplayable after the Season 4 Reloaded update went live.

The Season 4 Reloaded update brought a ton of changes for Warzone Pacific players to explore, including a nerf to the Serpentine Perk as well as the addition of a Terminator crossover.

However, the seasonal update also brought a frustrating problem to the popular Call of Duty title, as reports are coming in of players experiencing lag which makes it impossible to enjoy the game.

When the Season 4 Reloaded update first went live, there were numerous reports of a strange glitch that would cause frame skips and ping spikes. Now players are experiencing another issue in the game.

Reddit user ‘Clip_It_’ claimed that the game has been “unplayable” for a few days and shared a short clip of them experiencing massive lag spikes when playing in the Warzone Pacific subreddit.

In the clip, lag spikes would occur which would cause both the player and his opponents to repeatedly freeze for a few seconds before moving again. The Redditor added that this has been happening in almost every game.

This is a problem that’s also being faced by other players, as a few commenters shared their own recent experiences with the lag spikes. It seems that some Warzone maps are more affected by this than others.

One of the commenters claimed that this issue is more prominent when playing on Caldera, as matches there are “much laggier” compared to those held on the Rebirth Island or Fortune’s Keep maps.

This claim was corroborated by a few other players in the thread, as one of them reported having smooth games on Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island while experiencing terrible lag on Caldera.

The player added: “It’s the same thing for me. I can’t play [Caldera] without it skipping. [I] have never gotten below 90 ping, but can have smooth games on Rebirth and FK.”

The developers have yet to address the lag issues that have popped up in Season 4 Reloaded Hopefully, a fix will be implemented for them in a brand-new Warzone Pacific update patch soon.

CoD fans reveal necessary change that could save Warzone 2

As players look forward to Warzone 2, they have revealed one of the issues with the current Warzone that needs to change.

With Warzone 2.0 on the horizon, Call of Duty fans have revealed one of the most important changes that are needed for it to succeed.

Warzone is coming to the end of its lifespan, and while the upcoming Season 5 update is looking to give the incredibly successful BR a great send-off, players are hungry for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.

While not a lot is actually known about Warzone 2, players, of course, have their recommendations and suggestions for the game. Most of these Warzone 2 wants are based on the player’s experiences with the first installment.

Lag and performance issues have been a dominant topic of player frustrations when it comes to problems with Warzone. Just recently, players had found a glitch with the ping system, which was causing very poor performance.

Now, Reddit user juicemtl has highlighted the latency issue in Warzone, saying that it “needs to stop if WZ2 wants to be successful.”

The user expands on his opinion in the comments, saying “I don’t care how good of a game WZ2 will be, if they can’t figure out a way to have the game run smoothly and if packet burst and bad servers are going to be the norm, the game will fail.”

Players in the comments of the Reddit post share similar experiences when it comes to lag and this error symbol in Warzone, with one Redditor saying “everytime that s*** pops up I lag lmao.”

While many seem to have experienced the problem, some feel that Warzone 2 will be successful regardless of server issues, as Warzone has done well even with them: “You’re joking right? If that was the case WZ would’ve failed a long time ago.”

We’ll have to wait and see how people receive Warzone 2 when it officially launches. With Modern Warfare 2 on the way and the Call of Duty Next event soon to come, it may not be long until we get our first look at the sequel to Warzone.
