Warzone 2 devs confirm audio fixes finally arrive in Season 2
Warzone 2’s audio has been a point of contention for players, and the developers have promised that audio fixes will be arriving in the Warzone 2 Season 2 update on February 15.
The Season 2 update is on its way, and Warzone 2 will receive a plethora of new content with its arrival, including major changes to the Gulag and DMZ mode as well as the return of customizable Perks.
Warzone 2’s in-game audio has been a controversial issue as players feel that it makes it difficult to hear enemy footsteps. Now, some major audio fixes are on their way in Warzone 2 Season 2.
Warzone 2 Season 2 audio changes
On January 25, the Warzone 2 developers went over all of the new content and changes that are set to arrive in Season 2 in a community update. These include significant audio changes.
The developers explained that one type of audio system did not successfully activate in multiplayer after launch. After a few tests, they’ve found a way to make the occlusion system function properly in Warzone 2 Season 2.
The audio occlusion filter is applied based on the type of material that in-game objects and structures are composed of. It determines how these objects block the full frequency of the sound.
While this filter is meant to be applied to only large structural objects, the developers found that small items like wastebaskets were activating the occlusion system as well. So, a wastebasket may have acted like a wall, making it more difficult for players to hear.
Additionally, the developers also found that PC players may have been experiencing audio issues due to discrepancies in the number of channels, Season 2 will feature an option to force the PC to stereo output.
They advised players to check their Windows and in-game audio settings to ensure that they’re set correctly in accordance with the listening environment. That covers all the audio changes coming in Warzone 2 Season 2.
