A trusted Warzone 2 expert believes that secret updates have rendered the suppressor attachment completely “useless” in the battle royale.

Being stealthy and remaining undetected in Warzone 2 can be a big factor and play a huge role in picking up dubs. It can give you the edge over other players and allow you to sneak up on them for quick and easy kills whilst not alerting anyone else in the vicinity.

There’s been a lot of discussion about the minimap in both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 as firing an unsuppressed weapon no longer makes you automatically appear on the minimap.

Many players believe this has defeated the purpose of using a suppressor, but in Warzone 2, at least at the beginning of the game’s launch, you’d still show up on the compass at the top.

Now, Warzone 2 expert WhosImmortal believes that a secret change has made it so that you basically don’t need to use suppressors at all.

“There was a secret update and this actually happened a few weeks back. I was really hoping that after the break happened they would go through and realize ‘oh, we’ve changed this we should probably fix that’ because it was never mentioned in any patch notes and never mentioned anywhere officially. But, they’ve actually gone through and removed the red dots from the compass here in Warzone 2,” he explained.

This means that you basically have no reason to equip suppressors in the game, outside of camo challenges, as you will not show up on the minimap when firing regardless.

However, WhosImmortal then gave some reasoning for the use of suppressors still: “For long-range, using one of those suppressors that offer better [bullet] velocity, or slightly better control, or slightly better range, is something that I would still personally use.”

He continued: “So, if I’m using an RPK, or a RAAL, or a Kastov 762, something like that for long range, that primary long-range weapon, I think that’s still solid.”

WhosImmortal believes that suppressors are now “completely useless” for mid-range and close-range combat and that the attachment should only be saved for long-range weapons.

It’s entirely up to you how often you choose to use a suppressor moving forward as it will likely be up to personal preference now.
