Warzone 2 players fear iconic Intervention Sniper will be “useless” in BR
After being revealed for Season 3, Warzone 2 players are worried that the iconic Intervention Sniper won’t live up to its legendary status in the battle royale.
Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 are two completely different beasts, and the meta for one game doesn’t necessarily correlate to the other, as the format and larger scale of battle royale have different demands compared to multiplayer.
That said, the seasonal content is the same for each game, and with Season 3 just around the corner, players are sharing their opinions on the revealed content such as the new 6v6 map and a new Sniper in the FJX Imperium, which is a remake of the iconic Intervention from the original MW2.
While reactions have been mostly positive, as Activision pulls on the nostalgic heartstrings of the players, some are concerned about the classic Sniper’s arrival in BR, worried that it will be off the mark.
Comments under a Reddit post announcing that the Intervention will be coming to both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 in the Warzone subreddit sparked debate about whether or not the Sniper will be good in the battle royale.
One comment read, “I don’t care unless it one shots to the head like literally every sniper in every cod till this one.” In another Reddit post, one player expressed similar concerns, saying it will just be “another useless sniper.”
It’s more than likely that the Intervention will not one-shot to the head when it releases in Warzone 2 Season 3 unless the rumors are true, as no other Sniper can do this and the devs seem adamant on preventing Snipers with one-shot potential, nerfing and removing those that did in the past.
A user under the post even said “I cannot believe anyone is letting themselves get hyped for this. It will not sound or handle anything like the original in MW2. This is a completely different game,” while another also agreed as they wrote that “it will be NOTHING like the intervention from MW2 ‘09. Will be slow as hell and ads speed like molasses.”
Clearly, these users aren’t very hopeful about the Intervention’s power when it drops for Season 3 on April 12. It seems the overall sniping experience in Warzone 2 has made players less excited about a new Sniper entering the game, even the iconic Intervention.
