Warzone 2 receives major change to fall damage mechanic

The new Warzone 2.0 battle royale game is set to bring some big changes, and fall damage is going to be a major component of this Call of Duty paradigm shift.

Warzone has always prided itself on implementing typical FPS and battle royale conventions slightly different to separate itself from the herd.

In Verdansk, players had to learn to toe the line between heights that would lead to instant death and falls that would leave them completely unscathed.

Now, the concept is about to become slightly more familiar in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 as Activision have announced the mechanic is set to be revamped and change what players knew about fall damage.

In the OG Warzone experience, there really was no middle ground, you either fell and died or fell and lived without a scratch on you. Now, players are going to have a bit more variation in the outcome of their falls in Al Mazrah.

Warzone 2 is set to normalize fall damage by making it gradual depending on height instead of the notion of all the damage or no damage.

The HP you lose will now be entirely dependent on how high up you were when you fell. For example, if you fall off a 10ft wall, you might lose 30 HP, but if you plummet from a 20ft drop, then your punishment might be closer to death.

It’s certainly one of the game’s more understated revisions with Loadout Drops and the brand-new DMZ mode taking the majority of the headlines.

CoD players will finally be able to drop into Al Mazrah on November 16 with Season 1. Along with fall damage getting a rejig, there is also an interesting new Interrogation system being added to the fold, as well as talk about the Tactical Nuke being an option in Warzone 2.
