Call of Duty Warzone’s Resurgence maps, Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep, became instant fan favorites, and a new report claims that Warzone 2 will receive its own Resurgence maps in a 2023 update.

Warzone will soon move to pastures new with the release of Modern Warfare 2, where Warzone 2.0 brings a completely fresh start for CoD’s battle royale. Arriving with Season 1 on November 16, it’ll only feature Modern Warfare 2 weapons and Operators on the new Al Mazrah map.

But Warzone’s smaller maps, Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep, have gained dedicated fans since their release, with many preferring the fast-paced action over the traditional battle royale format. These players might be in luck, as Warzone 2 will reportedly get its own Resurgence map in 2023.

According to Call of Duty insider TheGhostofHope, dev studios Beenox and Toys for Bob are developing “a Resurgence Map for Warzone 2.0 set to release in Mid 2023.”

Beenox developed the ever-popular Rebirth Island map and have supported the development of Warzone while working on Modern Warfare 2’s PC version. Toys for Bob have also worked on Warzone, helping with Verdansk ’84, Warzone Pacific’s launch, and reportedly assisted High Moon in creating Fortune’s Keep.

Hope continued that Infinity Ward and Raven Software will “help direct it with Infinity Ward leading the narrative & Raven consulting on gameplay ideas.”

What this new Resurgence map could be is anyone’s guess. Some have speculated that it will have something to do with Modern Warfare 2’s Las Almas region, but it might be too large for a Rebirth-esque Resurgence map.

Rumors also suggest that Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep will be removed when Warzone 2 launches and the original game becomes ‘Warzone Caldera,’ so a smaller map would be a welcome sight for Resurgence fans.
