Warzone December 19 update patch notes: Cooper Carbine & BAR nerfed

Warzone developers Raven Software have nerfed both the BAR and Cooper Carbine assault rifles in the December 19 patch.

Raven Software have dropped another weapon balancing patch for Warzone, with the BAR and Season 1’s Cooper Carbine both receiving nerfs.

Warzone Season 1 introduced new weapons to the game, with the Cooper Carbine and Gorenko Anti-Tank Sniper Rifle added as part of the major update.

The Cooper Carbine immediately became one of Warzone’s most popular weapons, with many players choosing the AR thanks to its power and accuracy.

Unfortunately for those who liked the weapon, developers Raven Software have decided that the Cooper Carbine was too good, and have dropped a weapon balancing update to bring it back in line with the rest of its class.

As Raven try to balance the weapons in Warzone’s Assault Rifle class, the damage output and ADS speed of the Cooper Carbine have both been reduced in an effort to open up the meta.

On top of that, the BAR has received attachment nerfs after many claimed the recoil on the gun was too low.

Raven Software have also brought some bug fixes to the game, addressing collision issues, challenge progress not tracking, and more. You can read the full patch notes below.

  • The Firesale Public Event has been adjusted to last a fixed duration.
  • Fixed collision issues with various elements across Caldera allowing Players to exploit/peek/shoot through them.
  • Fixed an issue causing the Festive Fervor Event Challenges to not track progress.
  • Fixed an issue causing additional placeholder images to appear in various Store Bundle previews and/or purchases.
  • Fixed an issue causing placeholder text to appear on various Store Bundles.
  • Fixed an issue causing placeholder text to appear underneath Unlock Criteria XP Bar for locked Vehicles.
  • Fixed an issue causing some Store Bundles to appear with the incorrect Rarity label.
  • Fixed an issue causing the Festive Deals discount to not apply when gifting a Store Bundle to another Player.
  • Fixed an issue causing visually incorrect pricing on some Store Bundles.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Space Issue” Submachine Gun Charlie (VG) Blueprint was incorrectly displaying Vital instead of the Brace Gun Perk.

Weapon Adjustments

When considering these changes in a vacuum, they may seem rather peculiar. Due to the nature of Vanguard Weapons, tuning is much less straightforward. Adjustments to base Weapons are not as impactful as they once were. Vanguard Attachments can completely alter the behavior of a Weapon—including its Damage profile, Fire Rate, and Recoil. When we make these adjustments, we are considering the Weapon holistically, in all its permutations. Our goal is for these Weapons to be just as viable with one of these Attachments as it can be with all of them. This allows the Weapons to support all sorts of playstyles and gameplay preferences rather than solely ‘Rapid Fire’.

» Assault Rifle «

  • Cooper Carbine (VG)
    • Maximum Damage decreased to 24, down from 25
    • Minimum Damage decreased to 19, down from 20
    • ADS Speed decreased by 5.3%
  • Note: This change took effect in the previous update.

We understand those who have taken a liking to the Cooper Carbine (VG) will be sad to see it receive some rather impactful adjustments (see additional changes in Attachment section below). The Cooper Carbine (VG) with all Fire Rate Attachments could reach near 1,200 RPM. Which, considering its innate accuracy and Assault Rifle Damage Range, was problematic. High Rate of Fire Weapons, of which many Vanguard Weapons can become, must be carefully tuned to offset the extreme level of forgiveness that trait provides. We believe in that regard, there is much work ahead of us. The Cooper Carbine (VG) is still going to be effective but is now more likely to lose fights to Submachine Guns in short-range engagements.

Attachment Adjustments

» Barrel «

  • Assault Rifle Charlie (BAR VG)
    • CGC 27” 2B
      • Horizontal Recoil Control decreased by 5%
      • Vertical Recoil Control decreased by 5%
    • CGC 30” XL
      • Horizontal Recoil Control decreased by 5%
      • Vertical Recoil Control decreased by 5%

As stated above, changes to Weapons and Attachments are not quite what they used to be. While we are reducing the amount of Recoil Control provided by these Barrels, this can easily be compensated for with other Attachments like Fore and Rear Grips. It may require popular builds to shift around somewhat, and as a result, other downsides like poor Mobility may become more apparent. We feel balancing risk versus reward is important. If each Weapon build were ‘one size fits all’, regardless of individual skill, we diminish our journey of mastery. Ideally, over time we graduate from needing an excess of Recoil Control from our attachments to prioritizing more beneficial attributes like Damage, Range, and Mobility.

  • Cooper Carbine (VG)
    • 14” Gracey Rapid
      • Now multiplies Damage by .9
      • Now multiplies Headshot Damage by 1.07
      • Now multiplies Upper Torso Damage by .99
      • Now increases Vertical Recoil by 5%

» Magazine «

  • Assault Rifle Charlie (BAR VG)
    • 8mm Klauser 30 Round Mags
      • Horizontal Recoil Control decreased by 4%
      • Vertical Recoil Control decreased by 4%
    • .50 BMG 30 Round Mags
      • Horizontal Recoil Control decreased by 4%
      • Vertical Recoil Control decreased by 4%
  • Cooper Carbine (VG)
    • 9mm 60 Round Drums
      • Damage Multiplier increased to .96, up from .89
      • Move Speed decreased by 2%

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded features the new Titanium Trials Endurance mode and here’s everything that you need to know about it, including its rules and rewards.

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded is going out with a Terminator-themed bang after the Titanium Trials mode went live on August 11. This hardcore mode increases the value of armor plates and rewards the best players with free items such as the Ultra Weapon camos.

With the rise of the machines taking place in Warzone, players will need to counter this new threat in the brand-new Titanium Trials Endurance mode, and we’ll go over everything that you need to know about it.

Armored SUV in Warzone Titanium Trials

Warzone Titanium Trials Endurance rules

Warzone’s Titanium Trials increases the maximum base armor threshold on Caldera to 300 hit points to simulate a Terminator model’s toughness. Health regeneration takes longer to restore, making this a high-skill and high TTK game mode.

You’ll start the game with a Self-Revive Kit and will be able to pick up the Tempered Perk as ground loot more frequently to repair armor. The mode’s custom-built loot table includes rare Redacted Weapons that pack a more significant punch than regular loadout guns.

Here’s a breakdown of the rules:

Player health & armor

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded’s Titanium Trials boosts player health up to 400, with 300 of that made up from armor plates. This means that Operators have only 100 HP, making for a quick death once your armor’s gone.

To make things more difficult, health regeneration has been slowed down. But, the Tempered Perk can be found more often to allow you to plate up faster.

Player count & map

Titanium Trials mode takes place on Warzone’s Caldera, with a maximum player count of 152. The mode will be played in Quads so make sure to bring some friends if you hope to get 20 wins and unlock the Skynet camo.

Loadout costs & redacted weapons

The cost of loadouts will be much higher at the beginning of a Warzone Titanium Trials match and will gradually decrease with each circle collapse.

However, if you haven’t found enough cash to buy your loadout and get the best weapons, then you can find one of the Redacted Weapons which has even more attachments.

Terminator Warzone skin fighting in Caldera

Warzone’s Titanium Trials Endurance event is live, offering the best players unique rewards such as Terminator-themed weapon camos. You’ll need to win as many as 20 games to unlock all of the rewards, so here’s how to win Titanium Trials including the best weapons and some handy tips.

Despite Warzone being around since March 2020, it’s the only major battle royale game not to include some form of ranked mode. The developers confirmed they’re working on it, but instead, they include hardcore modes such as Iron Trials and the new Titanium Trials.

Titanium Trials went live on August 11 as part of the Season 4 Reloaded update, bringing Terminator-themed gameplay to Caldera. This mode is unique in that it rewards players for their skill rather than tedious challenges.

You’ll need to win four games if you want to complete the event challenges, and 20 in total to unlock the Ultra Skynet camo. Here’s everything you need to win in Warzone’s Titanium Trials.

Best weapons to use in Warzone Titanium Trials

Tips & tricks to win Titanium Trials in Warzone

Get loadout as early as possible

Titanium Trials is unique in that there are no free loadout drops, so you’ll need to rack up as much cash as possible in the early game and buy your loadout as soon as possible. The ground loot weapons pale in comparison to the weapons listed above, so you’ll be giving yourself a huge advantage by buying the loadout early.

We recommend landing somewhere far away from the plane’s line where you’ll be uncontested and can get a loadout before playing out the rest of the match.

But, the loadout drop price will keep falling as the match progresses so don’t worry if you can’t grab one straight away.

Watch for Self-Revives

Self-Revive Kits are everywhere in Warzone’s Titanium Trials, as every player will spawn with one — even after coming back from the Gulag.

When fighting, just keep in mind that the player you have knocked most likely has a Self-Revive, so don’t count them out of the fight. Finish them off with your gun or a Throwing Knife if possible, but if you can’t, keep an eye on where you knocked them in case they re-peek the angle.

Keep plating up during fights

Warzone player fitting armor plate

With Titanium Trials being a Terminator-themed mode, armor plates count for much more of your total health. Your base health is only 100 HP and armor makes up a further 300 HP. With how important armor is, just putting on a single plate during a fight will offer a huge advantage.

If you’re fighting at range, take any second you can to re-fill your armor plates. This is especially useful if you find the Tempered Perk on the ground, as each plate gives 150 HP. Players won’t expect your health to be so full, and you may catch them out in the open as they push up.

Play with friends

Warzone’s Titanium Trials is Quads only, and playing with randoms is always a gamble. If possible, playing with friends will significantly raise your chances of winning.

Random players will often leave immediately after dying, or just want to do their own thing. Playing as a close-knit team is a sure-fire way of securing the victories needed to unlock all of the Ultra Camos.

You’ll only have until August 24 to get all of the Titanium Trials wins, and then Season 5 will kick off immediately after, bringing new weapons, and classic CoD villains if leaks are to be believed.
