Warzone’s developers have confirmed they have plans to add a Ranked mode to the game, but can’t reveal a release date as they “want to do it right.”

Battle royale games are competitive by nature, with Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Warzone all having a thriving esports scene. However, unlike the others, Warzone doesn’t have a specific Ranked Play mode where players can compete to climb the ranks and earn rewards.

With the success of Iron Trials, players have been desperate for devs Raven Software to add a dedicated Ranked mode. Now, one of the developers has confirmed that they have definite plans to introduce the mode at some point.

On March 23, Warzone creative lead Josh Bridge revealed during an interview that Raven Software intend to introduce a Ranked mode in the future but only when they’re sure they can provide the best experience for players.

When asked if Ranked play is confirmed for Warzone, Josh replied: “Yes. We just want to make sure we do it right. We don’t want to take it lightly, so we’re evaluating it.” He confirmed that Ranked play is “what we need” in the game.

As for a Ranked Play release date, Bridge couldn’t offer one. He stated that while Raven Software don’t have any updates on exactly when the mode will arrive, they are “absolutely taking it seriously.”

At the time of writing, no further details are available about Ranked Play’s arrival in Warzone Pacific, but it’s encouraging to know that it’s on the developers’ minds to eventually bring it to the game.

It’s possible that Ranked Play could arrive in Warzone Pacific or Modern Warfare 2’s “new Warzone experience” but that remains to be seen. Hopefully, we’ll get a release date confirmation in the near future.
