Raven Software plans to make a significant change to Warzone’s meta with an update to the time to kill in the game in a future patch update.

The studio has revealed within the Season 4 patch notes for Warzone that there will be a massive change for weapons planned in an upcoming update.

These changes will also include increasing the time to kill (TTK) in the game for the first time since the game’s launch.

Raven gave an explanation as to what the studio is thinking when it comes to weapon balancing in the Warzone world.

In a future patch, we will be making sweeping balance changes to Weapons,” says the studio’s blog post.

Let us take a moment to discuss the philosophy behind that decision. At a high level, Warzone is a game about engagements. The more time we allot to mechanical and strategic expression within engagements, the higher the ‘skill ceiling’ and the longer our personal journey of mastery. We believe the frequency of those engagements and how we navigate them heavily contributes to the overall level of fun. We want to enable more escapes from impossible situations, moments of finesse, epic outplays, and opportunities to flex exquisite marksmanship.

Time to Kill set to increase in Warzone

Raven has now confirmed that they plan to increase the time to kill in Warzone, thanks to the weapon changes planned, from 60 milliseconds to 100 milliseconds.

“Due to some Weapons being far more lethal than others in their class, we feel a reduction in the efficacy of those outliers is necessary. We expect these changes will bring the average Time to Kill up by approximately 60 to 100 milliseconds. These changes will not only increase the overall capacity for skill expression, but should also introduce some Weapons into viability that have not yet had a chance to shine.

This would be the first official time the studio is making changes to the TTK of the game. How it impacts the play-styles and overall feel of the game is yet to be determined.

The release date for said update is not yet confirmed. It could potentially be included with the Season 4 Reloaded update set for July, or sooner. As always, we’ll keep you updated on when to expect the changes.

The Season 4 update included the first go at bringing the weapons to a new balance, with many buffs & nerfs across the board including to AMAX, SMGs, Shotguns, and more.
