Warzone devs tease changes for AMAX, FARA 83 & more coming
Raven Software has teased some of the upcoming weapon changes for Call of Duty: Warzone weapons as Season 3 continues.
Warzone Season 3 brought significant buffs and nerfs to Black Ops Cold War’s weapons. The AUG, M16, and FFAR 1 were the undisputed kings of Season 2, making almost every other weapon in the game unusable.
After the community, including streamer CouRage, begged the developers to bring these weapons in line, they gave a massive tuning pass to Cold War’s weapons.
For Season 3, the AUG, M16, and FFAR 1 were nerfed, and Assault Rifles such as the FARA 83 received a significant buff. However, devs have teased further upcoming weapon balance changes.
As part of a blog post revealing the April 28 patch notes, Raven has teased a sneak peek at some of the upcoming changes.
After confirming that they have fixed issues with the “Hunt for Adler” event challenges not tracking, players getting under the map, as well as various other bug fixes, Raven gave us “a sneak peek at some upcoming changes…”
The patch notes teased:
- Balance adjustments to the CR-56 AMAX, FARA 83, and Bullfrog.
- Changes to ADS Firing Speed on Cold War attachments.
Raven Software have already stated that they are “”
Although difficult to control and only holding a 45 Round Mag, the CR-56 AMAX has always been an extremely powerful weapon. Its damage and time to kill outshine the rest of the weapons in its category, and it appears Raven want to bring it more in line with the other Assault Rifles.
The FARA 83 has almost become the new FFAR, although less powerful. Even though it’s an Assault Rifle, it’s joined the close-range meta alongside SMGs and the Cold War AK-47. Raven may nerf its effective in close quarters, but we’ll need to wait for the patch to see what they have planned.
The Bullfrog has long been one of the best SMGs in Warzone for its insane headshot multiplier and large magazine size. Raven confirmed they will be adjusting the Bullfrog, so if it’s receiving a nerf, perhaps they will lower its headshot damage.
And as we’ve said, certain Cold War Assault Rifles have become the close-range meta in Season 3, in large part because of their ADS movement speed. With certain barrels and stocks, you can strafe walk faster than SMGs while aiming, so it’s likely that Raven will be lowering this ADS Firing Speed.
The developers haven’t given us the specific details or date for these changes, but we’ll let you know as soon as any more information is revealed.
