Warzone DMR nerf “does almost nothing,” says JGOD: “Still Cheesy”

JGOD believes the DMR will still be “Cheesy” despite being nerfed in the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 Reloaded update.

Warzone Season 5 Reloaded is finally here, bringing new updates to the weapon balancing, a new game mode, and a future event.

While some of the nerfs introduced in the update, have made an impact, such as the MW Fal and MW MP5 nerfs, the developers may have underlooked changes to the DMR, as JGOD believes the weapon is still very strong even after the September 9 update.

In the patch notes for Season 5 Reloaded, the developers detailed changes made to the DMR, which are as follows:

  • DMR 14 (BOCW)
    • Recoil adjusted

“Rather than an outright ‘decrease’ to Recoil, this change is more of a rework. The DMR 14 (BOCW) has languished since its changes in season one, but it has not been forgotten. Expect the DMR 14 (BOCW) to feel like a new Weapon. Semi-auto Weapon enthusiasts rejoice, as the DMR 14 (BOCW) may see a real resurgence following this change,” Raven Software explained.

The developers clearly felt this buff made the weapon a bit too strong once again, pushing another update on September 9 to nerf the DMR, reducing its Neck Multiplier and Upper Torso Multiplier:

  • DMR 14 (BOCW)
    • Neck Multiplier decreased from 1.1 to 1
    • Upper Torso Multiplier decreased from 1.1 to 1

Raven Software claims the changes are a “rework” to the weapon’s recoil and damage profile, asking players to expect the DMR 14 to feel like “a new weapon,” however, this doesn’t seem to be the case in JGOD’s eyes.

JGOD tweeted the stat changes to the DMR 14, showing how little the weapon’s numbers have changed.

The DMR’s damage at range has been decreased slightly, now doing 55 damage in the chest from 0-19m and 48 from 19m+. This change just makes the DMR slightly worse at range while retaining its power up-close, with JGOD stating, “up close it will still be Cheesy.”

However, one comment underneath JGOD’s tweet suggests the recoil change has actually increased the accuracy of the weapon, saying, “Recoil feels way more consistent though at range. Only had a few hours with it, but it felt like I was actually able to get rapid hits at range.”

Although the damage may not be different, and it may still be cheesy up-close, the DMR’s recoil will feel more consistent to some players, allowing them to hit more shots at range despite its damage being nerfed.
