Isaac ‘IceManIsaac’ Hamilton believes a forgotten Warzone SMG could be the key to the new close-range meta in Season 3 following significant nerfs to the Owen Gun.

After starting Season 2 as an underrated SMG, the Owen Gun developed into one of the best weapons in the game throughout the season. It was the number one SMG choice for top players, but that has changed as a recent update nerfed the Owen Gun significantly.

The search for the next best Warzone SMG in Season 3 is on, and expert IceManIsaac has offered his take on which weapon to focus on next. Thanks to stats and gameplay the content creator proves that a forgotten SMG could be the top option at this stage of the game.

Warzone AUG SMG

Modern Warfare’s AUG has always been known as a slow SMG with an impressive max damage output. It turns out these exact qualities are what make it better than the Owen Gun, as IceManIsaac uses stats to prove that the AUG can outperform the Owen Gun even in its pre-nerf state.

Before IceManIsaac breaks down the best AUG loadout for Warzone Season 3, he explains just how much better it is than any other SMG. In the video, he compares the weapon to the Milano and pre-nerf Owen Gun, “The AUG kills faster at close-range than the Owen Gun.”

As he shuffles through the target areas, the AUG consistently boasts the fastest TTK of the three weapons, making it hard to ignore.

If you haven’t yet tried the AUG in Season 3, you may want to give it a shot, “I think it’s going to be insane for both here (Caldera) and Rebirth Island for that medium-range cause the iron sight is really clean. This is my favorite Sniper support to date.” The streamer pairs the AUG with the ZRG, which many are calling the best Warzone Sniper at the moment.

  • Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
  • Laser: Tac Laser
  • Stock: FORGE TAC CQB Comb
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip Tape
  • Magazine: 5.56 NATO 60-Round Drum

This AUG loadout is meant to be used as a Sniper support weapon therefore IceManIsaac equips the 5.56 NATO 60-Round Drum. However, what makes this weapon so interesting, is the fact that players can pick attachments that suit their playstyle.

IceManIsaac explains that the attachments above are for players who struggle to control recoil. As an alternative, he suggests the 30-Round Mags and Sleight of Hand if you consider yourself an expert at controlling recoil.

The AUG doesn’t have the fastest ADS speed, therefore he opts for the Stipple Grip Tape, Tac Laser, and FORGE TAC CQB Comb, which will allow you to get your shots off quicker. He explains that a barrel attachment is not necessary since the damage range increase from the Monolithic Suppressor is sufficient.
