Warzone leak reveals equippable helmets return to game files

helmets reportedly found in Warzone game files again

Equippable helmets were found in Warzone’s game files before the game launched in 2020, but data miners claim they have been added back with new voice lines.

Before Warzone launched in 2020, details of a now-scrapped armor system were discovered in the game files. This system included tiers of armor, along with bandages to heal and equippable helmets. This is the way most other battle royale games such as Apex Legends and PUBG handle their health systems, so Warzone was expected to follow suit.

However, that was changed for the more fast-paced system with minimal looting that we all now know. Healing items were replaced with automatic health regeneration and armor tiers were scrapped for the plate system.

Helmets may be making a return with leak reporter VanguardIntel and data miner Nanikos claiming they have returned to the game files. Vanguard said the helmets will have three tiers to them:

  • Lvl 1: Reduces Headshot Damage by 15%
  • Lvl 2: Reduces Headshot Damage by 30%
  • Lvl 3: Reduces Headshot Damage by 30%. Reduces flash and concussion effects

Nanikos posted images of the files detailing these helmets, and said that there were “also operator voice lines for pinging a helmet.”

Many have disputed this leak, saying that the helmets are just leftovers from the original armor system. Vanguard claimed that although the helmet system was originally scrapped, “according to [their] sources it has recently been put back in with new voice lines and such.”

Vanguard also clarified that these helmets will be for Warzone, rather than the abandoned Blackout 2.0 that was leaked on April 5.

While there is no real evidence that these helmets will arrive in Warzone, it’s possible that the leaked 1980s overhaul of Verdansk will bring new mechanics to the game. A plethora of new vehicles have also been found in the files, and they could also arrive in Warzone soon.
