Warzone leak reveals equippable helmets return to game files

Warzone data miners have reportedly found equippable helmets in the game files again after they were scrapped before the game’s launch.

helmets reportedly found in Warzone game files again

Equippable helmets were found in Warzone’s game files before the game launched in 2020, but data miners claim they have been added back with new voice lines.

Before Warzone launched in 2020, details of a now-scrapped armor system were discovered in the game files. This system included tiers of armor, along with bandages to heal and equippable helmets. This is the way most other battle royale games such as Apex Legends and PUBG handle their health systems, so Warzone was expected to follow suit.

However, that was changed for the more fast-paced system with minimal looting that we all now know. Healing items were replaced with automatic health regeneration and armor tiers were scrapped for the plate system.

Helmets may be making a return with leak reporter VanguardIntel and data miner Nanikos claiming they have returned to the game files. Vanguard said the helmets will have three tiers to them:

  • Lvl 1: Reduces Headshot Damage by 15%
  • Lvl 2: Reduces Headshot Damage by 30%
  • Lvl 3: Reduces Headshot Damage by 30%. Reduces flash and concussion effects

Nanikos posted images of the files detailing these helmets, and said that there were “also operator voice lines for pinging a helmet.”

Many have disputed this leak, saying that the helmets are just leftovers from the original armor system. Vanguard claimed that although the helmet system was originally scrapped, “according to [their] sources it has recently been put back in with new voice lines and such.”

Vanguard also clarified that these helmets will be for Warzone, rather than the abandoned Blackout 2.0 that was leaked on April 5.

While there is no real evidence that these helmets will arrive in Warzone, it’s possible that the leaked 1980s overhaul of Verdansk will bring new mechanics to the game. A plethora of new vehicles have also been found in the files, and they could also arrive in Warzone soon.

How Warzone devs decide which weapons to buff & nerf

Warzone’s developers, Raven Software, has explained how they decide which popular weapons to buff and nerf.

How Warzone devs decide which weapons to buff & nerf

Following Warzone’s update on May 7, Raven Software has explained their thought process behind buffing and nerfing some of the game’s most popular weapons.

Going into Warzone Season 3, Raven Software made some significant changes to the game’s most popular and powerful weapons. Over the course of Season 3, they have continued to stay on top of weapon balance, although some changes haven’t been as welcome by the community.

In the Season 3 patch notes, they teased a nerf to the CR-56 AMAX and then reaffirmed this nerf in their April 28 patch notes. This nerf didn’t sit well with high-profile members of the community, but as of May 7, it took effect, with the weapon’s damage being reduced by one.

In the May 7 patch notes, Warzone’s devs prefaced their list of weapon buffs and nerfs with some insight into their thought process before buffing and nerfing weapons.

Warzone AMAX

“There are millions of you, and when we reduce the effectiveness of a weapon, we are bound to make a change to someone’s favorite gun,” Raven Software explained. “As players of this game ourselves, it pains us just as much.”

They explained how they “remain torn” when nerfing a weapon, but they do it with the intent of promoting diversity.

Certain weapons, such as the DMR 14, FFAR 1, and AUG were so powerful that they were the only viable weapons, and using anything else would put you at a significant disadvantage. Raven said they believe “what makes a game truly engaging is choice,” and admitted that certain weapons diminished that choice.

However, they feel that the game is close to a “balance homeostasis” where most weapons “are at the very least viable.” But that leaves time to kill (TTK) as the final thing for them to address. They’re looking to have a higher time to kill across the board, or at least make it so that it will require skill to reach a low TTK.

Raven Software asked players to “consider these changes not as targeted attacks, but rather as part of a larger initiative to raise the skill ceiling.”

On top of the weapon nerfs in the recent updates, they have buffed the PPSH-41 and will be looking at buffing some of the “struggling” Modern Warfare weapons.

Warzone devs promise to buff “struggling” Modern Warfare weapons

Raven Software promised players in the most recent patch notes that it will be taking a look at struggling Modern Warfare weapons.

Warzone Modern Warfare Weapons Buff

In the most recent set of patch notes for Call of Duty: Warzone, Raven Software explained that they would be taking a look at struggling Modern Warfare weapons in the battle royale with an intention to buff them.

A large portion of Warzone’s life was only filled with weapons from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but this changed with the release and integration of Black Ops Cold War into the battle royale game.

This integration saw weapons from Black Ops Cold War dominate the meta and leave the vast majority of Modern Warfare weapons in the dust.

Warzone Modern Warfare Weapons Buff

The most recent patch notes that Warzone developers Raven Software released on May 7, 2021, gave fans of the Modern Warfare weapons hope for the future.

In the May 7th, 2021 patch notes, Raven Software gave a detailed explanation of the latest round of changes that the studio made to Warzone that included a great deal of weapon balancing and changes to floor loot, which had been a major topic of discussion amongst players in Season 3.

One of the most interesting things that caught the community’s eyes in the patch notes for Warzone was near the end when Raven Software addressed concerns that they would only be making changes to Black Ops Cold War weapons and provided a tease of a Warzone Modern Warfare weapons buff.

“Finally, we would like to address concerns that we are only going to be making changes to Cold War weapons. In the future, we fully intend on taking a closer look at some of the Modern Warfare weapons that have been struggling,” said Raven Software.

The nerf of the CR-56 AMAX in the May 7 patch notes for Warzone is one of the first major changes that have been applied to Modern Warfare weapons since the integration of Black Ops Cold War into the Call of Duty battle royale.

With Call of Duty 2021 and future games planned to integrate into Warzone as the central hub of the franchise from now on, there have been concerns that fan-favorite weapons from past games would be forgotten and never touched by the developers in the future.

Raven Software has now made it clear that they do not intend to do this for the Modern Warfare weapons for at least the rest of the Black Ops Cold War cycle in Warzone.

Find out how to make the powerful Gallo SA12 Shotgun an even bigger beast in Season 3 with the best Warzone Gallo loadout.

Best Warzone Gallo Loadout

Black Ops Cold War’s Gallo Shotgun is a force to be reckoned with, and with the best Warzone Gallo loadout documenting the strongest attachments and perks, it can become your new best friend in Season 3.

The various Season 3 weapon buffs and nerfs that were applied to Warzone opened up the door for more weapons to be viable for players choosing what to use in their loadouts. As usual, Assault Rifles and SMGs have already risen to the top of most players’ charts.

However, these Assault Rifles and SMGs may have to take a back seat as a weapon that people have been sleeping on for too long may finally have awoken. The Gallo’s incredible firepower has never been questioned, it’s just never been fully utilized.

That is until now, with the likes of Aydan “Aydan” Conrad giving it the recognition it finally deserves, you may be about to up your kills thanks to the best Warzone Gallo loadout.

Best Warzone Gallo loadout attachments

  • Muzzle: Agency Choke
  • Barrel: 21.4″ Reinforced Heavy
  • Laser: SWAT 5mw Laser Sight
  • Ammunition: STANAG 12 Rnd Tube
  • Stock: Marathon Stock

The first step in the best Warzone Gallo loadout is to apply the Agency Choke muzzle as it will silence your shots, not exposing you to the map, and increase hip-fire accuracy. The Gallo excels in close-range firefights, and we don’t want to be messing around with ADS, so increased hip-fire is key – a reason to use the SWAT 5mw Laser Sight.

The 21.4″ Reinforced Heavy barrel does wonders for the Gallo’s range and crucially increases its fire rate to get more rounds away. Obviously, if you’re intending to unload lots of shells and need more in reserve, then the STANAG 12 Rnd Tube will sort that.

To finish off our Gallo attachments we have a basic Marathon Stock as it reduces the sprint-to-fire speed, giving you the advantage to shoot first – plus it doesn’t hinder any other stats.

Best perks for Gallo SA12 Warzone loadout class

Perk 1 – Double Time

To close the gap between yourself and other players in Warzone, the extra sprint afforded by Double Time is invaluable in the best Warzone Gallo loadout, as is the quicker crouching so you can sneak up on enemies.

Perk 2 – Overkill/Ghost

Overkill is a given as you need a long range weapon to pair alongside the Gallo.

Ghost can be acquired in a second loadout and will stop you from being detected on UAVs and Heartbeat Sensors.

Perk 3 – Amped

Amped is necessary for quick weapon swapping in a tense gunfight, as getting caught switching from your primary weapon to your shotgun at the wrong time could spell certain death for you in a gunfight.

How to unlock the Gallo SA12

Unlocking the Gallo is easy in Warzone Season 2, as you need to reach Level 34 in either Warzone or Black Ops Cold War for the Shotgun to become available.

The good news is that progression carries over between Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, so no matter which game you’re playing, you’re always gaining XP towards getting the Gallo SA12.

Best alternatives

If the best Warzone Gallo loadout is maybe not your cup of tea, then the Streetsweeper is another monstrous alternative for you to consider in Warzone due to its fire rate and power.

You can always fall back on the tried and test classics if the Gallo fails with the MAC-10 and FFAR still capable of dealing serious damage very quickly.
