A brand-new leak has given fans their first look at Warzone Mobile gameplay, as well as confirming that the original CoD battle royale map, Verdansk, is set to make a comeback.

There have been rumors of Warzone Mobile for some time now, as Call of Duty looks to follow Apex Legends into the mobile gaming market. After initially being hinted at in 2020, Activision finally confirmed the game back in March.

There’s no doubt that the prospect of having access to Warzone on the go has fans excited, but the ongoing rumors that Warzone Mobile would mark the return of the original map, Verdansk, only added to the hype.

Now, a fresh leak has given players their first sneak peek at Warzone Mobile gameplay, and seemingly confirmed Verdansk’s comeback in the process.

The footage was shared by well-known leaker CoD_Perseus on June 5, along with a series of screenshots. These tweets have since been taken down, but the video remains live on the internet.

In it, we see what the beginning of a Warzone Mobile match will look like, as players start in the plane and pick a landing spot. As they overlook the map from the plane, we catch our first peek at Verdansk, complete with beloved landmarks like Stadium visible in the distance.

The player landed in Downtown and began looting up. They killed a handful of players before losing a gunfight, sending them straight to the Gulag.

All in all, it’s gameplay that will be very familiar to anyone who has sunk a significant amount of time into Warzone on console or PC, and it doesn’t appear that too many sacrifices have had to be made in the move to a mobile device.

The leaked footage appears to be from an alpha build, as the message: “Currently in development – not representative of final quality” could be seen throughout the video.

Despite this being early gameplay, the graphical quality is impressive when you consider the difference in power between a games console or PC and mobile phone.

It’s worth keeping in mind that plenty could still change between now and the game’s release, but it’s safe to say that the finished product will at least resemble what we’ve seen here.

However, we’ll have to wait until Activision officially reveals Warzone Mobile before we know anything for certain.

In the meantime, be sure to check out the best guns in Warzone Season 3 Reloaded, and the forgotten Assault Rifle that is set to dominate Caldera.
