Warzone players beg for stronger nerfs to “no recoil” FARA 83

Warzone’s FARA 83 has become the most popular choice for its extremely low recoil, and players feel its June 30 nerf wasn’t enough.

Although the June 30 patch has been reverted, Warzone players had a few hours to try out the nerfed FARA 83 and felt that there wasn’t enough done to rein in the extremely popular Assault Rifle.

Buffs to barrel attachments in Warzone Season 4 has catapulted the FARA 83 to the top of the pack. Although designed to be a long-range AR, with the right attachments, it has almost no recoil. Players of all skill levels favor it, with it being the most popular weapon in Season 4, hitting an almost 20% pick rate.

Raven Software were aware that the weapon was too easy to use, which has gone against their recent mission to raise the skill gap. So, they “slightly” increased the recoil on the FARA 83 in the June 30 update. That patch had to be reverted due to “ongoing issues,” but players had roughly nine hours to try out the nerf – and they were left disappointed.

Warzone players have complained that Cold War’s weapons are overshadowing Modern Warfare’s, in large part due to their almost non-existent recoil. Raven Software acknowledged this problem in the June 30 patch notes, saying that recoil was so low that there was “hardly any room left to master the control of these Weapons.”

To combat this, the FARA 83 and C58 had their “recoil increased slightly” and several barrels had their recoil control feature nerfed. However, players don’t feel that this was enough to rein in the extremely popular FARA 83.

Reddit user singhthering posted a video of the FARA 83’s recoil post-nerf, saying, “The ‘nerf’ to the FARA 83 did absolutely nothing to it, we need more raven!”

In the accompanying video, we can see how easy it was to control the FARA’s simple recoil pattern. Some criticized the testing method, saying they’re too close to their target, but most agreed that the FARA still feels the same.

Warzone content creator JGOD echoed their sentiment, tweeting that he can definitely feel the recoil nerf on the C58, but the FARA “a little less so.” He concluded that “Both are still pretty easy to use at med-long range.”

Raven Software were actually aware that the FARA might still be powerful, adding in the patch notes that, “Even after these changes, we understand that there may still be incredibly effective and easy to control Weapons when enough Recoil Control is applied through attachments.”

Although Raven Software will be busy with fixing whatever issue caused the patch to be rolled back, they may be able to take on players’ feedback and give the weapons a further tweak before setting the update live again.

In the meantime, you can check out Season 4’s best Assault Rifle loadouts, as the weapons will remain just as powerful until the patch is reapplied.

CouRageJD reveals the one thing that makes Apex Legends better than Warzone

Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop went on Twitter to explain what one key Apex Legends feature makes it more fun than Warzone.

100 Thieves co-owner Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop is boldly claiming that Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends has one key feature that makes it “way better” than Warzone.

Warzone Season 4 is now well underway, and there were a plethora of changes after the Reloaded update arrived. Its battle royale competitor Apex Legends is also about to launch Season 10 soon.

Now, the 100 Thieves co-owner CouRageJD has made his stance in this rivalry abundantly clear. He boldly stated that Apex Legends is leagues ahead of Warzone due to one major reason.

CourageJD in Black Ops Cold War League Play Ranked

Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop had spent many months away from Apex Legends, but recently returned to battle in the game’s Ranked Leagues. This mode is so popular that Warzone players are asking for one too.

CouRageJD has described himself as “the greatest Wraith player in the history of Apex Legends,” and mentioned how much more fun that game is than Warzone because of the Ranked lobbies.

“New Apex Legends season about to drop, Ranked mode is so fun,” he tweeted. “Ranked arenas about to release, new legend coming, and huge balance patch about to happen.”

The 100 Thieves star then called Apex Legends the “best battle royale available.” Aside from the Ranked mode, he also complimented the clear love for the game that the Apex community has.

“Warzone has had its ups and downs, and I love Apex Legends,” said CouRageJD. “I’ve always had a soft spot for it. I was at the venue when it launched! There’s such a dedicated community, it’s crazy.”

Perhaps, this will encourage the Warzone developers to take inspiration from Apex’s Ranked Leagues. Respawn will implement the cable car feature from Warzone in Apex Legends Season 10.

Viral TikTok proves Warzone’s Ghost Perk is completely bugged in Season 4

A viral TikTok has revealed that Warzone’s Ghost Perk is broken in Season 4, as it doesn’t always hide players from UAVs.

Viral TiKTok shows Warzone's Ghost perk is broken

It appears that there’s a major issue with Warzone’s Ghost Perk after a viral TikTok from streamer Jessie Cooks showcased the Perk failing in a Twitch Rivals event.

Over Warzone’s life, it’s suffered from a host of bugs and issues. Not only are there cheaters, but the invisibility glitch returned several times and players even found a way to enter the Gulag and kill its combatants. Now, it appears the Ghost Perk doesn’t always work.

Ghost is one of Warzone’s few meta perks. It completely hides you from UAVs and Heartbeat Sensors, which is vital to winning a game of Warzone. However, there is recent evidence that the Ghost Perk can fail, still showing you on a UAV.

While the Ghost Perk is supposed to completely hide you from UAVs, a clip from Warzone streamer Jessie Cooks appears to prove that this isn’t always the case. While playing in a Twitch Rivals Custom Lobby, they equipped Ghost, yet were still hunted down after appearing on an opposing team’s UAV.

“We died to Huskerrs, JoeWoe and Mutex in Twitch Rivals [because] ghost doesn’t work,” Jessie shared on July 28 alongside a TikTok which provided the evidence.

In the video, Jessie Cooks and her team all grabbed their loadouts, clearly equipping the Ghost Perk. About a minute later, HusKerr’s team popped a UAV and could clearly see Jessie’s team on it. After hunting them down, JoeWoe made quick work of her by using the UAV’s information to throw a perfectly placed stun.

This TikTok went viral, catching the attention of analytical Warzone YouTuber JGOD, who said that “it makes no sense.” After watching all POVs and agreeing that Ghost should have worked, he suggested that it’s “likely a private match bug.”

A small streamer, Fabes_O, replied to JGOD with evidence that it “happens in pubs too.” They uploaded a clip showing the UAV sweep the Bounty circle but no red dots appeared. But as they approached, the team suddenly showed up on the minimap. Fabes_O was eliminated by them, and the killcam proved that the player did indeed have Ghost.

Raven Software hasn’t acknowledged this bug yet, but it’s gained enough traction online that it’s likely to be on their radar.

When is FOV slider coming to Warzone on consoles? Raven ‘aware’ of requests

Warzone players have been calling for an FOV slider on consoles since the game’s release, and Raven have confirmed they are investigating the possibility.

A Field-Of-View Slider for consoles has been a tool that Warzone players have been begging for since the game was released, and while Raven Software has acknowledged the requests, there’s no word on if or when it will finally be added.

Having an enhanced field of view on Warzone can be a huge advantage to players, allowing them to see more of their surroundings, and giving them the ability to customize their game exactly how they want to.

Fans have been calling for FOV slider support since the game’s original launch in March 2020, but so far, only the PC version of Warzone has the setting built into it. Unsurprisingly, these requests intensified when Black Ops Cold War launched with an FOV slider on consoles in November 2020.

What is an FOV slider?

A FOV slider allows players to change their field of view on the screen to see more of their surroundings. This would let you see more of what is on either side of the direction your character is facing, increasing your peripheral view.

In Warzone, the default FOV is set to 80, but in Black Ops Cold War as seen below, that can be increased to 120, a huge jump from what players can normally see.

Raven Software responds to Warzone FOV Slider calls

During a press briefing with Raven Software, the studio’s Associate Creative Director Amos Hodge revealed that the studio has heard all of the fan requests for a FOV slider in Call of Duty: Warzone.

Hodge stated that they have heard fans’ calls for FOV sliders and are actively looking at its implementation for consoles in the future. However, he stopped short of providing any release time frame, stating they ‘cannot share’ any timeline at this point.

Why is FOV not already available on consoles?

One of the concerns behind bringing a field of view slider to Warzone is performance, with Infinity Ward worried about how it would run on old hardware like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

With an increase in FOV, an adverse effect happens where you start to see a dip in frame rate in games. With Warzone supporting 150 players on a large map, the FPS drop could become so significant that it affects actual gameplay. This has been one of the key reasons why it has not been implemented yet.

Still, Raven are investigating possible options regarding its implementation. It’s important to note that this feature could be limited just to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but the studio declined to elaborate any further on the details of it.

If you currently play on PC, this option is already available, and you can use our Warzone FOV settings guide to make sure you’re making the most of this advantage.
