Warzone players call for major overhaul of Cold War weapons before Vanguard integration
Call of Duty: Vanguard will be upon the community soon. However, Warzone players are already calling for the developers to overhaul the Black Ops cold War weapons before Vanguard is integrated into Warzone.
Call of Duty: Vanguard was revealed to the community through the Battle of Verdansk event not too long ago. Those on PlayStation even had the privilege to experience gameplay early through the Alpha.
Although many fans of Warzone are excited for Vanguard’s integration, bringing a new map along with it, some are more concerned with how the Black Ops Cold War weapons are handling in the game’s current state.
With the latest information on Vanguard confirming Open Beta dates, players are nearing its integration into Warzone. Although it has been some time since Black Ops Cold War was integrated into the battle royale, some players believe the weapons need an overhaul before Vanguard is integrated into the Call of Duty battle royale.
Reddit user Numroth discussed their opinion on Black Ops Cold War weapons in Warzone with the community: “The state of CW guns when vanguard lands, no visual recoil = Superior to MW and Vanguard weapons.”
Ultimately, this player believes the main reason Black Ops Cold War weapons are superior to Modern Warfare weapons in Warzone is their lack of visual recoil. The main argument and fear of the player is that the Black Ops Cold War weapons will remain superior even when Vanguard’s weapons are introduced into the game:
“One thing i do fear is that if the current state of CW guns/attachments stays when Vanguard guns comes just the fact that the visual recoil vanguard guns will have just makes not worth using them over laser beam CW guns that you can run 100mph with sleight of hand 60mags with heavy barrels for extreme range + recoil control to no hinderance to mobility.”
Black Ops Cold War uses a different engine to Modern Warfare and Vanguard, and this is most likely the main reason the weapons feel so different. As Vanguard and Modern Warfare both possess the same engine, the weapons will likely behave similarly.
The post suggests that the developers should provide a host of changes: “visual recoil overhaul similar to MW and vanguard weapons and complete re-balance to CW scopes with actual lens effect like MW scopes has, Mags that increases mag size AND gives sleight of hand for free should lower your move speed drastically like MW mags does, Barrels that gives more recoil control should give you a movement speed penalty like MW Barrels does.”
Perhaps the developers will decide to do something about the Black Ops Cold War weapons, but since the focus will now be on the interaction of Vanguard, their time and effort will most likely be going into that.
This isn’t the only change players are calling for in Warzone, as some have even been asking for changes to the cross-play system recently.
