Warzone players call for nerfs to “ridiculous” Kar98k and Swiss K31 sniper meta
Long-range weapons like the Kar98k and Swiss K31 dominate Warzone, and players are calling for the developers to bring some nerfs to the “ridiculous” sniper meta.
Modern Warfare’s Kar98k Marksman Rifle and the Swiss K31 Sniper Rifle have maintained their popularity in Warzone because of how quickly and efficiently they can take out enemies from a distance.
However, some Warzone players feel that these have created an extremely unbalanced sniper meta on Rebirth Island and Caldera. Now, they’re calling for Raven Software to introduce some nerfs to these weapons.
Reddit user ‘meme-viewerno‘ expressed their frustration with the sniper meta in the CoD Warzone subreddit. In their post, they explained that players who don’t use the Kar98k or Swiss K31 are often at a disadvantage on both Rebirth Island and Caldera.
The Redditor wrote: “It’s extremely difficult to win a 1v1 if they have a Sniper and you don’t because of how OP it is to be able to just one-shot headshot. You don’t even have to be very precise, it’s super forgiving.”
The player called for Raven to implement nerfs that would make these guns feel more balanced. They suggested: “I personally believe they should go the Iron Trials route with headshots not one-shotting past a certain distance.”
Many other players shared this same sentiment, with the Reddit post gaining over 150 upvotes. One user wrote: “The Kar98k has a quicker ADS than most SMGs and pistols. That’s very unbalanced and why you see half the [lobby] running the Kar98k.”
The OP claimed that weapons like the HDR and AX-50 are much better balanced because they come with poor mobility. This has caused them to drop in popularity as they’re slower than the Kar98k and Swiss K31.
Players won’t have to wait long for adjustments to sniper meta, as Raven Software have confirmed that there will be some Sniper Rifles nerfs when Warzone Pacific Season 3 finally arrives.
