After playing Warzone for over two years, players have expressed their desire to see Warzone 2.0 introduce a new style of play by getting rid of some unwanted mechanics.

The second weekend of the Modern Warfare 2 beta goes live on September 22 with early access Xbox and PC players joining the fun. Weekend one was a mixed bag for players as most seemed to enjoy the gameplay, but couldn’t look past the lack of certain features.

Of course, Warzone players also took a break to test out the Modern Warfare 2 beta. After all, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 are built on the same engine, so the beta gave battle royale players their first taste of what’s to come on November 16.

Going back and forth between the current iteration of Warzone and the Modern Warfare 2 beta made players appreciate the methodic feel of the new title, in comparison to Warzone’s chaos.

With a new perspective, certain players began crafting their Warzone 2.0 wishlist. As this Reddit post explains, players feel some Warzone features would be better left in the past.

When it came to things that they’d be glad to see disappear, the OP primarily narrowed it down to the “ridiculous movement mechanics.”

Much has been made of Modern Warfare 2’s movement mechanics. The devs aimed to remove slide canceling from the game and while players found a way to slide cancel, it’s far from the overpowered movement mechanic it is in Warzone.

Movement feels methodic in Modern Warfare 2 and less chaotic, which players seem to appreciate. When speaking of Warzone, one comment expressed that, “The movement is idiotic in this game and heavily favors controller players who can just stim/serpentine in a circle while rotational lets them aim with 100% accuracy.”

It seems players are excited about the clean slate that Warzone 2.0 will provide: “No slide canceling and no stim movement boost in WZII will be a nice reset.”

For now, the devs’ decision to drastically alter movement looks to be paying off, but this is solely in relation to Modern Warfare 2. Once fans get their hands on Warzone 2.0, they’ll be able to provide accurate feedback on how the lack of chaotic movement impacts battle royale gameplay.
