The Riot Shield is one of the most infamous weapons in the world of Warzone, but it was on the receiving end of an unexpected change in the latest update for Season 4 of the battle royale game.

There is no doubt that the Warzone Riot Shield was one of the most discussed weapons in the game following its official release back in 2020, as many players have expressed frustration about getting eliminated by players using the weapon’s protective nature.

Others have proven to be exceptionally skilled at using the Warzone Riot Shield to secure wins and highlight players.

The discussion surrounding the Warzone Riot Shield will certainly be getting a new injection of life thanks to the June 24 update for the Call of Duty battle royale, as the newest Season 4 update brought a large change to how the weapon will appear in the game from now on.

The June 24 update was not too grand in scale, as it signaled the end of the Ground Fall Event and reduced the audio of the new Season 4 dirt bike vehicles while also providing some fixes for a couple of bugs.

However, one of the biggest topics covered in the June 24 update patch notes was the change to the Warzone Riot Shield in the game’s loot pool.

Raven Software has temporarily removed the item from the game’s ground loot, so now players can only find the Warzone Riot Shield in loot boxes or by equipping it through a loadout drop.

Players will no longer be able to find this piece of equipment lying on the ground like they could at the beginning of Season 4.

The developers did not explain why they removed the Riot Shield from the ground loot and did not give players an expected return date, as they stated it would only be “temporarily removed.”

It remains to be seen how long the Warzone Riot Shield will be gone from the Season 4 ground loot, but there is no doubt that players will both be happy and sad to see the infamous weapon be available less frequently for now.
