Black Ops Cold War and Warzone’s Season 2 update was to credit for Virgin Media’s record internet usage on February 25, 2021.

It appears that Call of Duty Gamers around the globe flocked to download the newest Warzone & Black Ops Cold War seasons, which ended up becoming the sole reason why Virgin Media hit their highest historical day of internet usage on the new season’s launch.

Over the course of the day, the average internet user downloaded more than 20GB of data, just 2-3 GB larger than the 17-17.9 GB Warzone Season 2 update. The exact average download amount for February 25, 2021, was 20.77 GB or 3.5GB above the average daily internet usage of 2020.

It’s quite amazing to see Call of Duty be the sole reasoning behind this upstream in internet data usage, perhaps signifying the hype for Activision’s hit battle royale is still at its high. Season 2 has been one of the largest Call of Duty updates to date, adding plenty of content to both Black Ops Cold War and the free-to-play Warzone.

On February 24, 2021, Black Ops Cold War received a large update in preparation for the Season 2 update rollout on February 25. The game was to receive a brand new multiplayer map, operators, Season Pass, reactive camos, weapons, and even a Zombies game mode, Outbreak.

Following the Cold War update was the record-setting Warzone update of February 25, which activated Season 2 across both titles. Within this update were huge changes to the Verdansk map, the activation of the Outbreak mode (and Zombies) in Warzone, on top of the new FARA 83 Assault Rifle and LC10 Submachine gun.

We’re sure even more record-breaking days are on the way for many internet providers, with rumors looming that the next Black Ops Cold War-themed Warzone map may be released in April.
