Warzone players will finally be able to concentrate on winning their Gulag gunfight thanks to silent spectator footsteps being added with the Season 4 update.

The Gulag is a tense battlefield where players engage in a 1 vs 1 fight for redeployment in Warzone. In Season 3, Raven Software added a new Gulag called Hold. Unfortunately, it failed to make a positive impression on most players.

However, not all hope is lost as the devs have issued a fix for one of the most prominent Gulag complaints of all time. In Warzone Season 4, players will no longer get distracted by spectator footstep audio while engaged in combat.

Warzone players fighting in Gulag

The Warzone Season 4 patch notes confirmed that “Spectators now have muted footstep audio for players who are fighting in the new ‘Hold’ Gulag.” This is a long time coming for Warzone players who lost countless battles due to inaccurate audio.

Given the small environment, there’s not much to rely on in the Gulag other than your gun skill. However, audio has always been a great way to discern your enemy’s movement, that is if the audio you’re receiving is not muddled by spectators.

Gulag Spectator area Warzone

More often than not, players would get distracted as spectator footstep audio from up above would alter their perception of the enemy player’s audio.

It may not sound like a big deal, but properly analyzing your enemy’s footstep audio could be the difference between life and death in Warzone. Luckily, players will no longer have to contend with spectator footstep audio in the Gulag as of Season 4.
