Players cheating in online games is nothing new, but devs consistently have to develop new ways to stop them. Popular streamer Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff has praised how Apex Legends has combated Strike Packs and urged Warzone to follow suit.
That’s not to say Apex Legends isn’t without its problems. Until recently, you could still run into players using Strike Packs.
But Nick has commended how Respawn has fought back against those with controller add-ons in the battle royale and urges similar games like Warzone to copy the idea.
Strike Packs are controller mods that allow players to map buttons on the fly and grant them advantages on shooting and movement. While they are easily purchasable from reputable outlets, they are viewed as cheating by much of the community.
However, Respawn recently made the big decision to ban Strike Packs in Apex Legends competitive modes from now on, saying they can detect when gamers are using them. NICKMERCS called the decision a “big W” for those competing at the very top.
“I think it’s huge news not just for Apex but for the gaming community in general,” Nick said in his video. “There’s a lot of lowkey cheaters out there.”
Nick continued by saying that he was “excited” to see whether or not the likes of Warzone, or even wider online games, will go down the same route.
“I don’t know if it’s going to get adopted over there on Call of Duty or spread like wildfire,” he added. “But I hope we can play together online and have a way to detect these weird cheats and weird third-party attachments, so they’re banned and not in the playing field. That’d be awesome.”

It remains to be seen if the wider gaming industry will follow in Respawn’s footsteps and ban Strike Packs in competitive modes. Although they aren’t as game-breaking as wallhacks or aimbots, removing them would go some way to leveling the playing field.

Between the Arenas mode and Ranked Leagues to compete in, thousands of matches have already been logged in Season 11, and we will break down and find the Legends with the highest pick rates in Season 11.

Most picked legends in Apex Legends Season 11
5. Pathfinder – 8.7%
Pathfinder has slowly climbed his way up the rankings and gained many fans to become a part of Apex Legends’ top five picks at 8.1% and counting.
As a Recon class, Pathfinder simply excels in movements and traversing the game’s various maps. His Grappling Hook and Zipline Gun are simply invaluable assets that will help any team in a pinch – either because of the circle or a third-party situation. He consistently manages to stay in the top 5 as a result.
4. Bloodhound – 9.1%
Again, with the influx of new Apex Legends players, Bloodhound is a great character to use for new players in Season 11.
Bloodhound nearly always stays in and around the 8-11% mark as a season goes on, and they currently stand at 8.8%. They are easily the top Recon class to use in Apex Legends, thanks to their tracking tools and incredible skills, plus, their Beast of the Hunt Ultimate is priceless.
3. Ash – 10.7%
As is always the case with a new season of Apex Legends, the debut of a new Legend usually drags tons of players away from their beloveds, and that has happened with Ash as she is in the top three with a pick rate of 16%.
Ash is a very offensive and aggressive Legend whose abilities let players launch deadly projectiles and also mark fresh deathboxes left behind by fallen players. This can help track players that have won a recent battle and could be prone to being jumped.
Ash’s Phase Breach ultimate can also give her a huge edge in battle and lead to potentially game-winning plays if used correctly.
2. Wraith – 11.4%
Another starting legend, Wraith has been a consistent pick throughout Apex Legends’ lifetime, and she is still well-represented at 11.4% in Season 11.
Wraith’s stand-out features are her ability to get out of trouble very quickly – teammates included. Her abilities allow her to sense danger, become temporarily invulnerable, and create portals to escape predicaments. It’s easy to see why Wraith continues to be an absolute fan-favorite in Apex Legends Season 11.
1. Octane – 11.9% – Most picked Legend in Apex Legends Season 11
The pick rate king has returned in Season 11 after the Ash hype died down. With a 11.9% pick rate, the speed demon is currently the most popular Legend in Apex Legends Season 11.
Aside from his amusing quips, he is the perfect balance of offense and defense. Despite being regarded as an offensive Legend, Octane can greatly increase his sprint speed which is useful for both attack and running away.
But most Octane users thrive on his Launch Pad Ultimate which can send him, and friendly players, high up into the air.
That covers all the picks in Apex Legends Season 11. As always, buffs and nerfs will come and go throughout the season, affecting the game’s meta, and subsequently, Legend pick rates.
We’ll be sure to keep this updated regularly so you can stay on top of the in picks, and don’t forget to check out our guide on the best audio settings for Apex Legends Season 11.

Does Apex Legends have split-screen?
Apex Legends is a very popular multiplayer battle royale game. Being free-to-play has definitely helped, but can you play split-screen?
Playing Apex Legends online with friends can be a blast, but some may want to share the experience on the same setup. For those interested, here’s the answer to whether or not Apex Legends has split-screen.
Gaming is an experience that should definitely be shared, whether you’re online or on the couch with friends and family.
There are some great local co-op games out there, but some may really want to know if they can play Apex Legends split-screen.
Here’s your answer.
Is Apex Legends split-screen?
At the time of writing this article, there is, unfortunately, no option for split-screen in the current state of Apex Legends. Of course, this could change as the game is constantly going through updates and improvements, but at the moment it is not available.
The only way players can enjoy the game together is by teaming up online through different systems. Luckily, there is cross-play, so whether or not your friend is on the same platform, you’ll be able to squad up and get in a game together.
It’s a shame that there currently isn’t an option for split-screen, as it does seem like something the players would want. On EA’s Answers HQ, one user even asked the devs to add split-screen to the game:
The developers have been great at providing new content for players and listening to feedback from the community over the seasons. They even recently revealed plans to help improve server stability.
Who knows, perhaps a split-screen mode will be available in the future, as similar games such as Fortnite and Call of Duty possess the feature.

Apex Legends Season 11 Space Pirate Collection Event: Release date, skins, Town Takeover & Heirloom
Apex Legends Season 11’s Collection Event has been leaked by dataminers, revealing details such as skins and the release date.
A brand new Apex Legends Collection Event is on its way in Season 11, and dataminers suspect it may be space pirate-themed.
Respawn is great at keeping the game fresh and has done an excellent job at staying on top of fixes and updates. One thing Apex Legends is known for is its extravagant Collection Event updates that come every season.
One will be arriving in Season 11 and dataminers may have leaked the details.
When is the Apex Legends Space Pirate Collection Event?
According to popular Apex Legends dataminer GarretLeaks, players will be seeing a Space Pirate Collection Event in Season 11.
After investigating code, the leaker believes players could be seeing the event drop soon after December 11. As Apex Legends’ updates usually come on Tuesdays, we may be seeing the Space Pirate Collection Event on December 14.
There are also rumors that the Collection Event will be dropping along with the Christmas-themed-Holo-day Bash event.
Of course, these are just leaks so the dates should be taken lightly. However, GarretLeaks is a reliable source, leaking various Apex content in the past such as the map Storm Point.
Space Pirate Collection Event skins
As for the theme, Garret states that seasonal battle passes have actually hinted at Collection Event themes in the past.
Both Gibraltar and Mirage’s Legendary Season 11 battle pass skins are salvaged Pilot outfits. This could be where the Space Pirate theme is coming from. Perhaps Pilots began salvaging armor and going on their own adventures after the Frontier War in the Titanfall timeline.
There are currently Legend banners in the battle pass depicting salvaged Pilot helmets for a variety of the Legends. Maybe the Space Pirate Collection Event will expand on this. It makes sense considering the devs mentioned plans to bring more Titanfall content.
Garret also revealed an Epic rarity Seer skin that will be included in the event. The skin is fairly simple but has the image of a skull in the middle of Seer’s chest. This further implies the Space Pirate theme, as Pirate flags are often depicted with a skull and bones.
There are a variety of Legends and weapons skins that have been mentioned in the code, but there are currently no images.
Wattson Heirloom & Town Takeover
Garret also believes the Wattson Heirloom will be dropping with this event, which was previously leaked.
This would make the most sense considering Wattson is one of the earliest Legends without an Heirloom. The Heirloom is said to be something like a Nessie Tamagotchi that responds to Wattson’s actions.
Further, we may also be seeing a Wattson Town Takeover during this Collection Event. Not much information has been released regarding the Town Takeover, but we’ll update this piece as news is released.
That’s all the current information we have on the Apex Legends Season 11 Space Pirate Collection Event. As more information is released, we will update this piece so stay tuned.
