Twitter has been ablaze with Warzone pros, CDL players, and fans debating who would come out on top. OpTic’s Davis ‘Hitch’ Edwards is putting their claims to the test by pitting Warzone and CDL players against each other in a best-of-five showmatch.

There’s been a ton of back and forth between Warzone pros and CDL players in the off-season, with the general consensus being that CDL pros can dominate in the battle royale setting, but Warzone players’ skills won’t transfer over to 4v4 multiplayer.

Warzone pros Aydan and Biffle matched up against CDL players in Vanguard 1v1s, with the score coming to 2-2. However, OpTic Hitch wants it settled once and for all by pitting Warzone pros and CDL players against each other in a 4v4 BO5 showmatch.

Warzone vs CDL pro tournament postponed

Hitch planned for the Warzone vs CDL pro tournament to take place on September 1, but it has been postponed until Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 releases so he can “do it big” with streamer and former caster CouRage.

While he hasn’t confirmed where it can be watched, it will likely be broadcast on Hitch’s Twitch channel, with players streaming their own POVs.

We’ve embedded Hitch’s Twitch channel below but will be sure to keep you updated if there’s any more news.

Warzone vs CDL pro tournament format

The Warzone vs CDL pro tournament was set to be 4v4, with eight teams of players competing across both Modern Warfare multiplayer and Warzone in a best-of-five with $10,000 on the line.

Here are the modes the Call of Duty pros were set to be playing on:

  1. Hardpoint MW
  2. 2v2 Oddman Caldera
  3. Hardpoint MW
  4. 2v2 Oddman Caldera
  5. Search and Destroy MW

The Warzone pros would need to beat the CDL players on at least one Modern Warfare multiplayer mode to win the best-of-five, with games two and four taking place on Warzone’s Caldera.

Hitch confirmed that two players from each team would drop into Caldera for a kill race, and the team with the most combined kills at the end will win the map. The 2v2 Oddman format means there’s “no excuse that the lobbies are different.”

Although the CDL won’t return until the Modern Warfare 2 season, you can check out how to watch the upcoming World Series of Warzone tournament.
